I guess he means vagina. At least, that's what I'm going call from now. |
I love it. I will use it forever.

I guess adults just saying "vagina" is out of the question. LOL
|
it just makes me think of kim possible.
and lady gaga, since she's supposedly a hermaphrodite. |

I find that hard to believe as well. |

Perez Hilton and all these other people need to get over it. She was asked her opinion. she gave it. Ironic that people are saying she is intolerant, but yet they are doing the very thing they accuse her of doing. Maybe some of these people should try leading by example. If you want her to show tolerance for your homosexual lifestyle, show tolerance for her viewpoints as well. |

Sure, opinions are opinions. However, our opinions aren't welcome everywhere. There are various contexts where certain opinions will be received negatively and will potentially lead to differential treatment. A pageant is one of those places and the contestants KNOW that. While her opinion would've been celebrated in previous years or in less mainstream (less liberal) pageants, it's simply the case that conservativism was not accepted in that particular pageant (Paris Hilton's pressence was a hint); and answering the question the way she chose to answer it sounded like it was more anti-gay marriage. She didn't have to go to the other side of saying she was pro-gay marriage but her stint about state rights could've stayed away from HER personal opinion completely. I answer questions without letting the asker know MY personal opinion everyday when I know MY personal opinion is an unnecessary sidebar.
But, we've discussed all of this before on GC. Her sex tape is receiving attention because "celeb" sex tapes always receive some attention. Mix that with her attempt to portray herself as a moral conservative who is championing the rights of moral America and you have the formula for an "oh, bitch, we caught you being a hypocrite" moment. |
The only reason she's being continually mocked and called a hypocrite is because of her campaigning for sexual morality and her efforts to almost paint herself as a spokesperson for the cause. People in glass houses should not throw rocks!

Everyone is close minded. People just have different tolerance levels and triggers.
Once people stop touting themselves and others as truly open minded, they will get over the fact that differences aren't always smooth sailing. |
Honestly, I couldn't have given a good goddamn about her moral beliefs, such as they were (although Perez Hlton deserved every spitball lobbed his way for calling her a cunt on the Internet). What chapped my ass was the hysterical Nellie Oleson–style mentality she embraced after others had the temerity to criticize her for expressing said beliefs—"WAAH, the librul meanies are impinging on my free speech." Nobody was doing any such thing, sugar plum. Free speech is a two-way street—just as one has a right to express it, so do others have the right to criticize it in kind.
If you have somewhat controversial political beliefs, the gold standard of how to express them is Erika Harold, Miss America 2003. A proud Republican who was active in her party, she ran on a platform of abstinence-only sex education. Now, aside from some very minor kerfuffle over her socio-political stands, she handled herself with grace, poise, elegance, and intelligence (she is a Harvard grad), and she proved to be a well-respected queen during her reign. |
