I have THIS question for the characters as they take off in a plane JUST in time to make it out of LA: Where are you going to land?

Hahahaha...that's why I can't see movies like this.

That part is what kinda makes me think it's gonna be kinda cheesy.

I'll probably go see it on Saturday or Sunday morning (where movies at AMC are super cheap, 5 bucks baby!).

I'm not seeing it because the acting is going to be supberb (did I spell that right?) or because it is so "realistic", but because of the special effects.

Hey this movie is by the dudes who did ID4 and Day After Tomorrow, so you know crap is going to get destroyed.

My question though, why is NYC always destroyed?

NYC is one of the most recognizable cities in the world. But it looked like a lot of well known landmarks were destroyed in 2012.

I still think the reason the Mayan Calendar ended in 2012 was cause they were lazy! lmao. Or it was one of those where they thought 2012 was a good number, cause shoot that was a loooong time away for them.

I'm still iffy on this movie. My cousin and I actually went to the theater cause we were gonna see it and then realized it wasn't out yet.

Just saw it last night with a few sisters. It was very entertaining! Personally, I don't think it was as bad as the reviews led me to believe. The CGI was absolutely stunning. We got there just as it was starting and the theater was packed, so we had to split up and a few of us (including me) sat right in the first row, which was pretty intense. Someone said earlier in the thread that it would be very graphically beautiful, and they were right.

That said, there were lots of "Oh, come on!" moments and some definite plot holes. A lot of things that happened were just too serendipitious to believable. John Cusack and his family are the luckiest people alive, apparently. You just have to suspend your sense of disbelief or you're not going to enjoy it. Granted, it was a movie about the end of the world, so everything's going to be a bit far-fetched. But the science, especially, was pretty ridiculous.

Some parts really were funny... the Russian billionaire is a hilarious character. But on the whole, it was certainly an action movie, and I spent most of the time being very nervous. And 2.5 hours is a long time to be nervous! I don't think there was any part where it lagged, though, despite it being so long.

To those who have seen it... call me a heartless bitch, but I was definitely on Anheuser's side at the end.

My boyfriend and I went to see another movie in the theater when the preview for 2012 came on... near the end of the preview, some guy shouted out "Well, damn, at least we've got three more years!" The whole theater cracked up. That said, I think that's about all I'm gonna get out of the movie.

Um, I think you summed it up pretty well. I have to throw in, from the moment "President Glover" appeared on the screen, I could not stop laughing.

Where do I even start with this movie? UGH...I did like the CGI, which is really why I went to see the movie. I will give away nothing so the rest of you can suffer as did I..oops I mean so you all can enjoy the movie.:D

I missed it this weekend, but I plan on seeing it next weekend. I keep hearing from people that it's an awesome movie.

It was okay. Great special effects though!

Yeah that's about what I would expect.

moe.ron 11-15-2009 10:44 PM

No plot, cool CGI.

Now that football is over for us (son's team got CRUSHED by the defending state champion :(), my husband and I are going to see it one night this week at Studio Movie Grill - 5.00 tickets and alcoholic beverages served at your seat. I think the combination of cheap seats, booze and beautiful graphics (did I mention Chardoney?) will make for a wonderful date night :D
