I admire you for having the courage to make this decision, even though I am a little wistful about those Oscar de la Renta girls. If they (Oscar or any of the sororities) do informal recruitment, I hope you take the opportunity to get to know them better. The Oscars sounded like a great sisterhood, but like they are victims of some unfortunate tent talk which continues to adversely impact their recruitment. If you spend time with them in a less intense atmosphere, you may be better able to separate the tent talk from the reality and make the best decision for you in the long run.

Best of luck! Focus on your studies, make a 4.0 this semester, and get to know all kinds of woman on campus, both in a sorority and in other organizations. :)

I got a phone call from Oscar de la Renta the other day asking me if I was still interested in them. I jumped at the opportunity because luckily, so many different things have just been clicking together in my family. I've pretty much settled down at college and things have settled in my family. I was so happy when the Vice President of Membership called me and asked me if I still wanted to be in their sisterhood. The VP of Recruitment for Jimmy Choo also contacted me. I still love the Jimmy Choo girls but I think I would fit in better with Oscar de la Renta because I've gotten to know a lot of them lately. Someone told me that I should envision myself at my worst (3am with no makeup, etc.) and whoever I feel most comfortable with would be the ones I should choose. And I honestly think Oscar de la Renta is the one. I went to their chapter meeting a few days ago and it was so great. Everyone made me feel really welcome. I just hope that they will still see me as a potential new member. (Keep in mind, my recruitment was well over a month ago. So things have definitely taken a new turn in my life. Even my family agrees that the worst part is over.)

I did the EXACT same thing you did last fall. When it came down to Pref, I only got invited back to one house - and it wasn't the house I felt comfortable joining. I wasn't about to waste their time or mine by going to their party. So I dropped, but went through COB in the Spring and got a bid from a really great house!
