University of Missouri

14 sororities participate in formal recruitment.

14 (open house - divided up over 2 days)
10 (sisterhood day)
6 (philanthropy)
3 (pref)

(Waaaaay back when, when I went through the process formerly known as "rush," ;) there were 17 sororities. We did 17 split between 2 days, then 8, 5, 3. We also had lots of singing, cookies, skits, decorations...so different from the no frills recruitment now.)

At CU, we have nine houses. We do 9--7 (philanthropy)--5 (skits)--3 (preference)

When I went through, there were ten houses; the only difference was the first datebook was split into two days (five the first and the other five the second).

At Maryland we went 18 - 10 - 4 - 2. That was a long time ago though and there are only 14 on campus now.

Paging VioletPretty! How is being done these days?

Elephant Walk 09-14-2009 02:30 AM

Haha even though I'm not in a sorority our rush works with this

Single Round, but two seperate days:
7
6 ?? I think...whatevers on campus numbers

then
6

then
3

Then bid day next day.

^^^No...the U of Arkansas does

Round 1 - 8
Round 2 - 6
Round 3 - 4
Pref Rnd - 2
Bid Day

Each year the rounds are broken up based on the actual recruitment schedule and how it fits around school activities, so some years round one can be over two days, other years a diffferent round is split, etc. Two years ago, we interrupted rush for a home football game.

5-4-3-2(pref).

On a slight swerve I've got a question, Greek Life is toying with the idea of eliminating one day to have a future three day schedule. The campus has always had four days of recruitment and anywhere from 4-6 sororities over the past 20+ years. Using RFM, would eliminating one day cause the strong returning chapters (who already cut 50-60% following day one) to eliminate even more PNMs after the first day(70-80%)? Or would the cuts become more spread out (maybe 40% following day one and 40% following day two)? I fear that by eliminating one day of a four-day schedule, recruitment becomes more stressful and competitive for both the chapters and the PNMs. Any thoughts?

Haha I know.

I was doing our formal fraternity recruitment, since we have similar formats.

Four days is tight enough, let alone three. V. v. bad plan.

AXOrushadvisor 09-14-2009 01:58 PM

11-8-5-2

The Chapters do 4 preference parties, but the girls only go to 2. There is a new chapter that is going to colonize in the spring so next fall it should go 12-8-5-2. We do bid day the following day after pref.

KC, I think it is doable. I'm not sure it would have an impact on the RFM's because your strong Chapters would still need to cut based on past results (first day of recruitment is first day no matter how many parties you have). To me it seems like it might make it all around easier until there are more groups on campus. It seems kind of weird to only eliminate 1 group after each round. I would be open to the plan.

I would follow the advice of your RFM Specialists and your NPC Area Advisors. If the RFM Specialties that works with your campus is recommending going from 5 days to 4 days, there is a reason. Your Fraternity/Sorority Advisor and Panhellenic should know this reason so ask.

A campus I work with has the same schedule as the one you described and it was recommended that they not go down to four days. The answer is all the numbers and RFM works. Your NPC Delegates would also be involved in that conversation so you can go to them and their team for guidance.

Good luck!

At my alma mater, they now do 6-4-2.

At the school where I volunteer, they go 8-6-4-2.

This is the information on the parties at Ole Miss.
September 23rd: Philanthropy Parties

September 24th: Philanthropy Parties

September 25th: Skit Parties

September 26th: Preference Round

September 27th: BID DAY!!!

If they have 9 sororities and two days of philanthropy parties would the schedule be
9,9 6,3? I am trying to clarify this myself. If someone could clarify if this is correct or not for Ole Miss.
