As someone who went through colonization, here's what I wore: for get to know you, informational type events I wore nice jeans, cute sandals (not flip flops) and a cute but casual top. As for the interview, I second the business attire advice. I wore black dress pants, nice black flats, and a button up collared top that came with a waist belt. Hope this helps!

I would not wear the dress, although it is very cute. The cut and style is very clean and classic, just not the best print choice in September. Definitely no white shoes.
Good luck! Kentucky is a glorious place! |
I preface this by saying, I don't really know what I'm talking about, BUT. . .
Do you all dress up for football games at Kentucky? Especially if you do, you might be able to choose to buy a new dress that will work for the interview, maybe with a cardigan or jacket, and yet be worn again to one of the games. Or you could buy something that you could wear for interviews later. If it's really classic in style, you could make it work for this occasion and then use it later for more professional stuff. |
RE: flip flops.
I think that nice flats are great! I'm 5'10, so in most heels I tend to tower over everyone (plus I recently broke my hip so I'm still getting the hang of the whole walking thing again) so I love flats. I was alluding to the "plastic and foam" type flip flops that we all know and love. One of my general rules of life since college has to always err on the side of business when unsure. I try to make it so I can either take my jacket off and just wear the top or bring different shoes or a different bag or something if I need to switch gears. Good luck, enjoy this very unique experience! And congrats Alpha Phi on your new colony :). |
Woo hoo, a potential colony member! Good luck! :)
