tld221, you rock my socks.

This is one of the most awesome - and accurate - threads I've seen in a long time.

Ah. Thank you for clarifying.

Where do victims of founderitis fit in?

Brava, tld221.

Another section needs to be added for our newbies who joined to post fake recruitment stories!

Glad to see the funny continues after an absence. :)

I know i'm missing some stuff, and I actually want to reference particular GCers but i'm running out of steam.

I think that you have created a new branch of study in the social sciences. :)
Really! I can see this as being someone's dissertation research. The thesis could be something like: "The impact of online social internet sites as it relates to one's ability to obtain membership in a GLO"

I think that you should go for it! And if your committee asks about references, just send them to one - GC!!

KSUViolet06 07-28-2009 05:51 PM

Don't forget the newbie who regesters just to ask any of the following questions:

*What are the best sororities at ___?
*What are the reputations of the sororities at ____?

When they receive the standard polite GCer answer about keeping an open mind and not being concerned with reputations, they have a fit and respond with:

"OMG you guys are sooo mean!"
"OMG can someone please answer my question honestly!"
"OMG you guys are like sooo lame and have like no lives!" (even though they're the ones who asked a stupid question on the interwebz)

they dont fit in. ever. hence, the founderitis.

tangelo212 07-28-2009 11:20 PM

Instead of recruitment or rush, it's "RUSH."

This was hilarious, esp since as a lurker i read soooo many of those threads. But in all my lurking days I never heard of The Three. what is that?

Upon creating username, Newbie is one of three things:
  • Totally new to GC, which means they do not know the GC culture, including topics discussed, types of responses to expect, how to search threads, etc. They have their trigger finger ready to hit "send" on whatever their situation is. These tend to be posted in: XYZs forum, Sorority Recruitment, Greek Life (hereafter referred to as "the Three"). These Newbies make up ~60% of the population.*

There you go.
