UGA recruitment is quite competitive and it's a tough environment for a junior who may not have relationships with any current sorority women, recommendations, etc. It just is. If you're prepared for that, then go for it. At least you know what you're up against. |

PS I read all the thread on this site for a simple reason. I like to learn, especially about greek life. I have learned more on this site about sorority recruitment here then my years at school. And also if I shouldn't be in the thread, then why isn't that prevented. Trust me in that it's not difficult to create user groups to hide forums from certain groups of members. |

So I can agree, this was a semi-productive thread, and it's on your part because you couldve taken the time to read what's already there. That wouldve given you the "honest response" you were looking for. (and sidenote: i feel like i need to add the "i just wanted an honest response" to the GC newbie poster checklist." all in favor?) |

You're a guy and not a girl rushing at UGA. Fraternity recruitment at your school and sorority recruitment at UGA are like apples and pumpkins, two different situations. It's a tough environment and rushing three times there is unlikely to yield a favorable result. There's alot more preparation that goes into going through sorority recruitment at an SEC school, moreso than fraternity recruitment at your school. It's one of those things that's really hard to just do because you typically have had to have been working all summer to get recs and such. |

Hey, is "I already read all the other threads but my situation is totally UnIqUe!!Eleven!!!!" on that checklist? |

Look, chick77, UGA is a competitive school. Being a junior will likely hurt your chances. You'll never know unless you try, though. You won't get a response like "You have a 32.45% chance of getting a bid!" No need to get all defensive. Keep it moving. |

Bottom line: if you think you want to rush, by all means do it. You'll have a tough time getting a bid. But even if you don't, you'll meet some new people. |

Thanks for the help; I'll be sure to look at that. I do want to rush, and probably will. |

Yeah? |

ETA: Registering for recruitment (which, by the way a PNM only has until Saturday to register AT ALL for recruitment at UGA) is $160 at UGA. |
Do you know other girls at school who are in sororities or have rushed? It may be too late to talk to girls who are in houses due to rush rules (I'm not familiar with UGA's rules), but if you know other girls there who have gone through the process, they may be helpful too.
Remember, this website has many helpful posts, but it represents only a very small percentage of us greek members out there. It may help to talk to a real live person as well. Good luck! |
FWIW, you can get information about recruitment at UGA here.
PNMs can no longer talk to members of sororities after Saturday. |

Come to think of it, it's not free at MOST schools. It typically is going to cost you something (because it is free for Panhellenis to put it together and run it). The fee at my school was about $30-ish. I know you're trying to be helpful here, but sorority recruitment is not the same as fraternity recruitment. I wouldn't want a PNM to read this and mistakenly think it was free. |
