Aw I feel loved. No idea how much I'll be around, I've kept the GC link on my homepage but haven't clicked it often >.<

Yes, an electrical problem, like a fire.
College students can totally be trusted to not remove batteries from smoke detectors. I mean it's not like there are no-smoking signs on bathrooms across the country, and flight attendants never warn you about tampering with them on a plane!

Guess what! Major safety changes can be expensive! It's far better that people die in a fire, like a fraternity brother did in my hometown than people have to leave unsafe houses!

Yeah their children dying is totally frivilousnessity.

University of Kentucky requires all greek housing to be up to code complete with fire alarms/detectors/sprinklers. If the FCB's dont have the cash to bring it up to the required code tough luck. The campus fire dept. will not hesitate at all to shut them down if not brought up to code by required dates. There have been numerous cases of some of the fraternity houses being condemned until brought up to code. I've never heard of any of the sorority houses being shut down for this though.

What we really all need to do is contact our congressmen and senators and get them to sign on to the Collegiate Housing & Infrastructure Act so that all donations for fraternity and sorority houses infrastructe will be tax deductible. It's veyr difficult to fundraise and when it is not deductible, it's almost impossible. This bill will put Greeks on the same level with universities who can take tax deductible dollars for dorms. Please go to www.FraternalCaucus.org.

Yes! Yes! Agreed. Kappa Alpha Theta has a link to this somewhere on their website and are encouraging the same thing too.
