The very brief explanation that I got was that it is derived (somehow :confused:) from the term 'pick a ni@@er' - in reference to how Whites would capture and lynch Black people. I don't know how much of that is true, but that is what I was told.

Thank you. I did find that explanation rather confusing. I'd never heard it before, but the person who told me seemed very sure when she gave the explanation. I never bothered to personally verify. :o
