I study Taekwondo with my oldest daughter.

Recently, she earned her yellow belt. (Our instructor held a special belt ceremony for her because I had an unavoidable work commitment on the day he originally was to have the ceremony for students earning a new ranking.) He began her belt ceremony by ...thanking me. For taking the time to do it with her, being out there as a parent on the floor/mat with her and not just as a spectator.

It affected me because a) he took the time to accomodate my schedule so I could be there for it, and b) it meant a lot for him to have a parent actually on the floor with their child.

...of course none of this stops this dude from dropping me as we spar/train, but that's another matter.

Catching up with an old friend the other day and he compared me to the Dos Equus commercial guy, you know "The most interesting man in the world." lol.

ME TOO!

I just got this email a few days ago :D (this was in response to a mass email I sent my students about completing their online course evaluations)

"I already did mine! I want to thank you for being a great TA. It has been a great semester, and is it weird to say I looked forward to Chemistry lab every week? I'll see you next week, and you'll probably be hearing from me in the next few days about the lab report.

Thanks again,
*Student*"

The "I looked forward to Chemistry lab every week" is what REALLY got to me! :) Thanks, Little32, for making this thread!

^^Affirmations from the students are lovely and sometimes all too rare.
