FWIW, PH wasn't the only judge who didn't like her answer.

And she didn't have to lie. It's possible to state your opinion in an eloquent way. She had absolutely no tact whatsoever. Her whole answer was basically word vomit.

And these pictures aren't magically surfacing because of her anti-gay tirade. There are many Miss --insert title here-- who had pictures from the past come back to haunt them.

I don't agree with the way PH responded to her (calling her names, etc) either, but that's not really the subject of this thread.

thedirty.com did say that they have more pictures that they will be publishing soon.

What's opposite marriage?

Seriously... If a girl wins Miss Cali, then wins Miss USA--there is a very high probability that she will be a major contender celebrity...

I have more to say... Let's just say that San Diego is NOT KNOWN to crank out too many Miss California's...

I only mean credibility as far as his position concerning her response at the pageant. There were many people who agreed with him that she was wrong in giving the response that she did. My point was that he turned many of those people off when he started calling her names, especially since she appeared to be handling the situation in a more dignified manner.

I don't see where her response lacked tact.
I think she did the best she could considering her views on the subject. Essentially if you expect someone to get up there and say something people want to hear, but which goes against their own beliefs, that constitutes a lie. They weren't asking her to be tactful. No matter how she worded it, if she didn't say that she was in favor of gay marriage, it was going to be held against her. I'm basing this on what PH said when he was talking to Larry King.

What I'm saying is that I don't understand why Perez Hilton was a judge in the first place. Does it take a queen to spot a queen? They had to have known involving him in the show in any way was going to cause ridiculous drama, and the pageant has enough as it is. IDGI.

Not all gay men are queens, but Perez definitely is.

Perhaps. But at least one other judge disagreed with you.

After hearing the answer, [Alicia] Jacobs, a former Miss Nevada USA [and judge], writes on her blog, if I could have made her 51st runner-up, I would have." She goes on to say "I fault her [Miss Prejean] for her complete lack of social grace, and that's a quality I want my Miss USA to posses."

In her blog, Miss Jacobs alludes that other judges felt the same way. "Going into the finals, she was in 3rd place in swimsuit and 2nd place in the evening gown competition."

It's the "gay mafia".

And I'm glad!

I feel the same way. I don't think he was a good choice to be a judge.

Love the part in bold. lmao

No... they didn't ask her to be tactful, however, I would imagine most people competing in the Miss USA pageant had at least one coach along the way that taught them how to word their answers that go beyond "world peace".

KSigkid 05-05-2009 09:43 PM

My guess is that most people in this thread couldn't care less about her tact if she had said something that was more in line with their beliefs...people are upset about the belief that she expressed, and they're using the tact issue to supplement their argument.

Again, I don't agree with what she said, but the timing and ferocity with which people are attacking her make me think that this goes beyond the usual "OMG she posed for that picture!" discussion.

BabyPiNK_FL 05-05-2009 10:46 PM

Yes, I do not like Miss California's comment, but there are millions of people who agree with her. Whatever.

My complaint is she really could have saved herself the drama. Not by using tact, but by answering the question she was asked instead of veering off to the side of the road at warp speed. I hate when a pageant participant is aked question about a topic (especially a controversial or serious one) and starts talking about the topic but doesn't answer the question. She stuck her foot in her mouth by doing so and made a mess for herself when she could have just done better. Epic Fail.

Also, who is really qualified to judge except those who used to pageant or those who used to train/coordinate in all honesty? Perez was asked probably because he is famous and would draw his audience to the show, but don't forget all the other people (usually celebs) over time that also deserved a draw drop and a "WTF?!" as well. He is among an abundance of company.

Am I the only one who has had enough with this story?. While I think we all should "live and let live", I don't know why Perez Hilton and others who are in support of gay marriage has chosen to cruicify her for giving her opinion on a topic when she was asked about it DIRECTLY. Was she supposed to pander to those who asked the question or avoid the answer? It seems to be a bit much "punishment" for being truthful:mad:

This does not help the gay marriage "cause" one bit. They should tell Perez Hilton to sit down and take a pill!

Senusret I 05-05-2009 11:33 PM

Is Perez Hilton any more my gay savior than Jesse Jackson is our black savior? Anybody who even thinks this piece of shit new story is supposed to "help" the "gay cause" needs to get a grip.

She said something dumb and got called out about it and will continue to get called out about it. It's no different from how we/you/I/people treat Blue Bat Shit and Tom Earp around here.

People can do and say what the hell they want to -- if she wants to look like a flat assed wench and be Miss California, then good for her. And if Perez wants to call her out for being stupid, good for him, too.

I don't even know who the reigning Miss USA even IS.
