Oh my gosh GET OVER IT, really people. I think it's funny you all mock what you "don't understand" or what s not already broken down for you. Yea like I said twice now, it sells, cause people like it, I like it matter of fact. It's only that demeaning if you take it personal.
Lastly, if it's selling they are making money , more then some of you will ever make, so obviously they are doing something right:rolleyes:

wow..that sounded like a generalization to me...mock what "we" don't understand? First, who are the "we" in this? Second...do all of the "we" not understand? What is to understand, yes it sells, yes they are making big money...more than most of us will ever make, INCLUDING YOU. OH MY GOSH...what an idea hey?
Seriously though, people do like it, hell I like most of it, I post for the pure fun of it, I take nothing on the internet seriously, it's just not my style. BUT, from your posts in the defense on this topic, sounds like someone is taking it a bit personal?

Not to point any arrows though ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

LOL....
sit back, have a beer or ten...listen to some missy e. like I am now..and chill, it's all in love, not war....or something like that.

hmm. -always starts her post like this for some reason- heh. I just realized that.

Okay, I have to agree with Diana on this one.

I like the music. I like the beat and it's a lot of fun to dance to and get wild. I think it only demoralizes women if you LET it demoralize you. Just because the radio tells me to shake my ass doesn't mean I'm any less a powerful, educated woman, because I am, I know it, and I sure as heck am not going to let some song make me feel bad about myself. Women, you should KNOW you're wonderful, powerful people and not let those songs define who you are.

Some songs make my eyebrows raise, but then I just take it with a grain of salt. They might have different opinions than me, but they are just making music, just doing their thing, like us all.

It's called freedom of speech, guys.
I still say try the christian radio thing.
Don't listen to music you don't like. Easy as that.

Always,
Jess

DGPhoney 09-30-2001 02:02 AM

Umm first off yes I am taking it personal, because a lot of people on this board say this and that and don't expect people to take things personaly by some of the trash remarks people say. Well for once, since I rarely get pissy I am taking this one personal.
Before you try break down my post and start something you probably can not finish, "We" meant the people posting in this particular thread with that particular opinion. Ask and you shall always receive an answer. Yes , including me, and your point WAS WHAT?
Actually you know what forget it, cause guess what I don't care. I have better topics to drop my two cents and guess what this ain't it.
So the arrows pointing where now:rolleyes:

it's not in my direction..never was....i have nothing to prove here...this should all be in fun..and to me it is...like I stated in the prior post...I listen to this music..I'm just having my fun with it....but...I end it here...if it's getting to you personally...i will be man enough and human enough to end it and say, I'm sorry.
I was never out to get at anyone personally, and if it did affect you.....again...I'm sorry.

DGPhoney.
Porn on the tube would probably cause people to watch as well, and in essence, sell...so is it that the resulting profit that proves whether or not it's approrpriate?

I'm glad someone else picked up on that point.

Hey guys, haven't you ever heard of a DEBATE! It's just presenting two different sides (in a logical and mature way) while backing up your arguement. No need for anyone to take it to heart. It would be a vanilla world if we all agreed.

DGPhoney 09-30-2001 06:08 PM

Umm hmm , PORN, Wait I thought the TOPIC was NASTY SONGS, maybe i read wrong or opps maybe you read wrong! Porn is a whole another topic, so unless you are opening up a thread about that then it's not worth me posting about it or even replying about . Enough Said!

I must be getting old. The only lyrics I can even understand to that song are, well, "back that azz up." :p

I have to say that I actually like some of the songs..Missy E is just the best! But anyhoo, if I ever hear a song that shocks me, all I do is change the station and don't listen to it. Most of these songs will be old news in a few weeks anyhoo. And ya, some of them do sound all the same-I suppose there are only so many songs you can sing about your cars and your jewlery, and whatever else you buy.

I don't know..no point here really..just my $ .02 ;)

The1calledTKE 09-30-2001 08:22 PM

Censorship sucks. If you don't agree with the music turn the station or write the artist and ask them to write nicer music. I don't like most the music talked about but I don't complain about it, I just don't listen to it. Everyone should be able to choose what they listen to.

Adulthood

The beauty of being adults in an ostensibly free society is that we have the power to turn the radio off if we dislike the music. We also don't have to buy the artist's music.
Commercial radio plays what the marketplace wants. That's the way it is -- you can't change it unless you own the station. And most of us are NOT named Clear Channel Communications or Infinity Broadcasting, LOL.
As for me, I listen to mainstream jazz (John Coltrane, Miles Davis, the like) which certainly doesn't have any "back that azz up" style music.

Uh, that's my point. Us as ADULTS can turn off the music if we want. But, what about the CHILDREN?

They can, but that means they can purchase the cd, or cassette or what-have-you. I am personally indifferent to hearing it, I like some of it, I think some of it sucks, but I don't really think that most of it should be on the radio. I mean, I listened to the radio nonstop when I was in first grade, we're shocked that kids are how they are today, then blame it on the parents....I mean seriously, how ignorant/oblivious of a society are we living in? You might say, but the parents can control what they listen to....no they cannot, not when some of this shit is played on every station, should we just say...oh, okay let the few songs ruin the experience of radio for my child because a few people want to hear the radio stations playing the filfth, rather than just buying it themselves.

and where does porn enter the scenario? Umm, are you serious? Do a lyrical analysis sometime rather than just replying with pissed-off posts. Nasty songs are essentially porn for the ears, cause you're hearing about the glorification of sex and the cheating rather than seeing it first hand. Is there a difference? It's the same thing manifested into a different form.

And, that was the beginning of the downfall of radio, when they started playing that song. At first, I was like OMG did he say ASS on the radio?!
