As a matter of fact I will go as far as saying that if you haven't done so, DO NOT read the early reviews because some of them had way too many spoilers within them

Go see and get back to me when you are done.

Yeah, most of the reviews I've read gave spoillers. Trust me, if you've never read the graphic novel, go into the theatre with knowing only what they tell you with the trailers. You'll be suprised, I can almost say, you will be like, wow.

It's interesting you come into these threads (the comic book movie ones) and essentially mock anyone who has an interest in them.

I mean, I'm not a comic or graphic novel fan myself, but I can at least appreciate that there are people who are justifiably pumped to see this movie.

Ksig, I don't think she was mocking anyone.

I actually laughed...know why?

I actually found what she said funny and thought provoking because what she said (altho I am not sure if she knows this or not) was actually a reoccuring theme throughout the movie.

Ease up a bit on her, ok?

I think you're also thinking back to what she (wasn't it cheerfulgreek?) did with the Dark Knight thread. :)

Live-in is super excited to see the movie (he has read the graphic novel) and I suppose I'll need him to fill in the blanks for me.

Mostly the reason I'm going is because often times if a movie doesn't appeal to me I send him off with his brother to see it, yet I constantly drag him to movies that he doesn't want to see. This time I'm giving in, the previews look cool, and I like a lot of the music from the trailers.

I made the poor guy and his best friend go to both Sex and the City and He's Just Not That Into You with me - I owe him this movie.

I just saw a commercial that highlighted one of the female superheros.

If I had to only go based on that commercial, I wouldn't see the movie.

That's actually a good thing...kind of...sometimes when they advertise these types of movies, they give away too much of the movie and then you are disappointed.

DS--

Saw the Watchmen today. I liked the storyline. Easy to follow because I have been into comics for awhile. While I cannot tell the storyline off the bat like my husband can, who really is a comic book fan with sellable books in the $100s right now, with Deathloks et al., I am an Anime fan, like Usherman, The real Robotech and ZetaGundam... I digress...

I think for those who really didn't grow up around the 99 Luftballons' time, might have some issues...

And all I can say is there are a quite a few butts and penises hangin' around...

Too many blue penises... But that works, too... ;)

I never read the book or anything, but as it was the only playing I went and watched it with a girl. The storyline made sense and all and I got it, but this movie just didn't really didn't do anything for me. I realize that for it do any justice to the book it needed to be that long, but I got bored.

As for the director, from technical aspects, despite the adversity the movie had, the pictures and graphics were amazing, I thought it rained a bit much though..lol...I didn't however think they were anywhere comparable to 300.

Dont take this the wrong way but this was kind of the reaction I was expecting from some people.

Can i ask...was you expecting more action or a faster pace?

Definitely a faster pace. I figured it start out a little slow, as most movies do, but this one just never really picked up pace. I understand why it was done that way, to those who know nothing about it, they needed to establish the characters and the plot, and that just took a while. The fight scenes were pretty solid. I do think , that if Greengrass's original shot at it would have went to production, we would have saw a much faster paced theatric, and a totally different style completely.

The characters have much more complexity than the characters of X-Men, Transformers, 300, so it definitely took longer to fully engage the viewer and their opinions of each.

actually...no...you wouldn't have gotten a faster pace...the movie was done close to the comic as possible...as a matter of fact if the intro was done as it was in the comic (it's own chapter) it would have slowed the movie even more.

Believe me when I say you got a good adaptation of the comic.

My prediction is this weekend great start but the following weeks will be a question mark
