Okay, so I just got done with the day one and I got to see 4 of the houses. In no particular order I visited:
Family Guy Lost The Simpsons The Brady Bunch Family Guy- I didn't really know much about this house going into it except for tent talk but I don't listen to any of it since I'm pretty sure that half of it isn't true. The girl that I talked to for the entire event seemed sweet overall but the conversation just wasn't flowing. After we would talk about something, instead of letting the conversation ease into another topic, she would just say "any other questions". Then, it got a bit more akward when the conversation lulled and we just sat and watched the slide show. I'm not too sure I made a great impression on her so let's just say that if I get invited back I'll be pleasantly surprised. Lost- The best surprise of the night. I went to one of their open houses in the fall and didn't really get a lasting impression so I was curious to see how I would feel after visiting this house. The girl that I was paired with was really outgoing and sweet. Our conversation totally got random, but in a good way, not in some weird creeper "omg did she really just say that" kind of way. I really liked this house and once again I'm glad that I didn't let tent talk influence how I felt about this chapter. The Simpsons- I have mixed feelings about this house. I went to one of their open houses towards the end of the semester and I really liked what I saw and learned about them. The conversation I had today was entertaining yet pretty akward in the sense that we only talked about partying. The girl seemed really sweet but we just didn't click. I wonder if I made a good enough impression to get invited back so that I'll be able to form a better opinion. The Brady Bunch- I don't really have much to say about this house. The conversation flowed pretty well (save for a few akward pauses) but overall things went pretty okay. Tomorrow we visit 5 more chapters so expect updates soon. |
I like that you're talking about how you felt about the chapters instead of "this is the slutty chapter, this is the ugly chapter, this is the fat chapter, this is the goody-two-shoes chapter...."

Round 1 Day 2
Going into Day 2 I felt pretty comfortable since I had a better idea of how things were going to work this round. In no particular order we visited:
Law and Order: SVU Gilmore Girls Full House Will & Grace Charmed Law and Order: SVU It was an okay conversation.There were some highlights but since there were like three SVU's talking to me and another girl it felt mostly like the SVU's had their own inside jokes and didn't really bother to engage me and the other PNM in conversation. There were a couple of akward moments but for the most part I still have a pretty good impression of this house. Gilmore Girls I liked this house. The girl and I had a pretty good converstation I get the impression that although the girl and I had alot incommon that I can't really see myself here. But at the same time since we only get to talk to one girl I'm totally going to wait before I make that my final decision. Full House AMAZING. By far the best surprise so far. I went into this hardly knowing anything about the chapter but the girl that I was paired with with awesomely sweet. We had a bunch of things in common and I felt like the party ended way too soon. The funny thing is going into today ranking was on my mind and before I met this house I was pretty sure that I was going to rank them in my bottom. I left that house knowing that they were in my top 6. Will & Grace Pretty good conversation. At first it started a bit rocky since I wasn't really able to read her personality to but eventually we found some common ground. During their fall open houses I loved these girls and the conversation today was pretty good but I'm not sure that I feel as strongly as I once did. (a quick question.. should I let my opinions of the houses I did see during the fall impact my decisions now? Because I sort of feel like I'm bringing sand to the beach. Charmed Ok conversation ok girl. I'm pretty sure that I didn't make a lasting impression but I feel like no matter what that I know that I won't/ don't fit in here. next post will be Day 3 of Round 1. |
Round 1 Day 3 and Ranking
Coming from yesterday which I felt was a great day for me I was more than excited to get started with Day 3. I was a bit nervous because then reality hit that I'm also ranking today. I wasn't quite ready for that part since that's when it starts to get scary. In no particular order (partly because I can't remember exactly) I visited:
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Home Improvement Sex & the City CSI John & Kate + 8 The Fresh Prince of Bel Air LOVED. I kind of had a feeling that I was going to like this house so it was a good feeling to know that my instincts paid off. The girl that I was paired with was pretty awesome we had alot in common for a bit it totally felt like I was chatting with one of my friends from home as opposed to being at recruitment. I felt like that party ended a bit too soon. I feel like I made a fairly good impression on her as well because upon leaving she was like she really hopes to see me again. Home Improvement The conversation was pretty good. The girl was really sweet I feel like she and I started a bit rocky at first and as forcing conversation but near the end we found a few more things in common which made time seem to fly. Sex & the City I really liked this house. The conversation flowed pretty well and the girl was amazingly sweet. CSI Loved this house. The girl and I didn't really cover all of the basics because we found other things to talk about almost right away. The conversation flowed really well but at the same time I'm worried that it wasn't awesome enough to get invited back. John & Kate + 8Ok conversation but I get the feeling that no matter how I try to spin it and make things work that I just don't belong here. Deep down I know that this house isn't for me. During ranking I was a bit nervous and kind of surprised myself at how I ranked. The top 10 aren't in any particular order but the bottom 4 are. 1. Will & Grace 1. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air 1. mini update
Yesterday was the beginning of Round 2 and out of a max of 10 invites I got 7. At first I was a little bummed but then my Rho Gamma cheered me up and reminded me that that's about average and that I should be happy that my top 5 asked me back. I will say that I'm UBER surprised that Charmed invited me back.
