I am a Steelers fan who bleeds black and gold from my liberal heart. Junior year, I lived with a die-hard Ravens fan, uber fiscal conservative. You know what? We got along marvelously despite our differences because we found other things we had in common. One of the beautiful things about sorority membership is learning to relate to people different from yourself.

Why let a perception of National conservativeness ruin your chances to make lifelong friends?

Join College Dems and/or a special issue interest group as an outlet. It will allow you to meet even more people on campus and help your leadership skills. If you are all politics all the time, then sorority membership is not for you.

Very well said and so true!!:)

My chapter was pretty much 50/50 liberal/conservative. It basically followed the atmosphere of the campus. Junior and senior years, I lived with two very conservative sorority sisters and a politically apathetic sister of a different sorority. We also had two other super close friends who were members of my sorority who were also very conservative, so out of the six of us, I was the only liberal one! We just made sure to not bring it up in our apartment. We were fantastic friends as long as the only time we talked politics, it was mature, and civil. If it started to get sticky, we would change the subject. In the end, we all learned a lot from each other, and we're still great friends.

Well if you want to REALLY play into stereotypes...

DPhiE = Jewish founders = Jews = Liberal.

There's your answer!!

The OP is stirring the pot and we are all falling for it. Violetpretty said it best - now we should close this thread.

To the OP, there is a sorority for Democrat students. If you spend the time googling it, you'll find it. They are not NPC, NPHC, NAFLO, etc... they are completely independent.

sororities and fraternities are the last remaining bastion of conservatives, leave us alone and go join college Dems
