Rumor but if you would like to volunteer to staff a table or work the Emporium, I don't think that they would turn you down. Many hands make light work!

Many alumnae who attend Convention aren't volunteers, they just like to go and catch up with friends and enjoy a vacation!

Ok thats what I thought :)

Yay...I just found out that my alum chapter is sending me to convention as an alternate for our President who can't get off work!

Sad news, I actually wont be going. Its just too expensive, even if I wanted to only go part-time. Its so annoying too bc its seriously 15 min away! Anyways, to all the sisters that are going, have fun for me and hopefully I'll be able to make it to the next one!

AOIIalum 05-01-2009 06:37 AM

Awww, darn it! What a shame, especially since it's so close for you.

AOII Angel 05-01-2009 01:20 PM

Can you just go to Rose Banquet? It would be one event and you wouldn't have to register for the entire conference. My older sister will be doing that!

OleMissGlitter 05-01-2009 03:19 PM

Yes you can get a separate application to attend certain events. My younger sister (an AOII too) who lives in the Tamapa area will be joining me for the Awards Banquet. You just have to pay separately for each event.

I have a silly question. I was looking through the pictures and saw all the nametags with colored tags attached. I've never been to Convention, but I was wondering what these are for? I couldn't read any of them.

AOIIalum 07-21-2009 11:23 AM

Pink=Alumnae chapter member
Berry/Burgundy=Life Loyal
White w/ red printing=Loyalty Fund Donor

There are others for various chapter award winners (usually worn by the President), scholarship winners, a few scholarship fund donors, HQ staff, and I know I'm forgetting a bunch.

It's like Convention bling. You try to see who can get the most stuff to hang from your badge including rose tributes. Some people from executive board and IHQ had hundreds, if not thousands of dollars worth of rose tributes hanging from their nametags! I had an Alum chapter member, Life loyal, Loyalty Fund, President's Club, Ruby Award, Foundation Scholarship Winner and Ginger Banks Scholarship Donor ribbons hanging from mine. If I had anymore, they'd have tripped me!:p I know the green one was the Second Century Society for members who have pledged to leave money to AOII in their wills.

I know I saw alot of people that had TONS of the roses. I was kind of shocked by that alone! Thanks. :)

Every one of those roses cost $5.00 a piece, so you can imagine how many roses were handed out to add up to the more than $25,000 raised for the Endowment Fund at Convention!
