My dad has set up 4, yes 4, Christmas trees at my house.
-The main one in the living room has a mix of multi-colored and white lights and is decorated with ornaments that my family has collected over the year. An intricate red and gold bow tops the tree with long streamers flowing down the sides. I absolutely love it :)
-The one in the dining room has a burgundy and gold theme. Very elegant.
-The one in the kitchen is decorated with handmade/hand painted ornaments that my brother and I made as kids
-The one in my parent's room has a red and green theme.

My dad always goes crazy with the Christmas decorations, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I live for Christmas! And I have 5 trees under normal circumstances... but I live in cramped quarters, so this year it's one big one and 2 smaller ones throughout the house.

Normally, I have two big ones- the living room one with ornaments that are now, primarily from family (gifts and heirlooms) and from living in Germany for 5 years, and a Christmon tree in the dining room (I got lots of these growing up-- I guess that's a product of being a preacher's kid). The other three are the tabletop trees, one with kids' ornaments in the kitchen, my husband's "man" tree (he loves crazy ornaments) and my girly pink tree.

This year, we've got the family tree in the living room, my kid tree in the kitchen, and my Christmon tree in the dining room.

No theme on my tree at home, but I do have an ornament collection that's all my very own. When I was a year old, my great grandmother gave me a Puppy Love ornament by Hallmark- it was the first in the series. 17 years later, I have every single ornament in the series. My mom tracked down two I was missing off of Ebay last year. I love hanging up those ornaments, as it reminds me of her. She was one of the greatest women you could ever meet...

I also collect the Holiday Angels series. I have a thing for Hallmark ornaments...

In the living room I have a real frasier fir tree that is a combination of all the ornaments that we have collected over the years plus some of the homemade ornaments. In my kids room is a 2 1/2 foot tree with their ornaments on it- mostly hallmark ornaments that mark each of their first 5 christmases and other character ornaments (like transformers and scooby doo) that I really don't want on the main tree. Out on our loft my husband has a Miami Dolphins tree complete with a Dan Marino ornament as the tree topper.
We found the two small trees on clearance a few years back. The boys love thier tree and we use it as the nightlight at bedtime.

Hahahah this is a running joke in my family. My step dad labeled a box "Big angles" and I drew an obtuse angle on it and wrote "130 degrees". :D

I decorated our apartment tree with a sorority theme... blue, silver, and white. It's really pretty.

At home, my mom uses all our Slovenian traditions to decorate the tree: "cookie" ornaments, golden walnuts, red bulbs, and gold beaded garland.

I had a small tree this year, and it was fake (no one had a fresh dwarf one). I put all my squirrel ornaments on it.

If I was at home and we did a traditional tree, in a word it would be flammable. We make woven paper hearts and woven wheat ornaments.

I've been collecting the Feliz Navidad ornaments from Hallmark since they started and people have given me other Mexican-themed ornaments so I'd say our tree is maybe 1/4 those, 1/4 "Baby's First Christmas" and other dated ones, 1/4 candy-themed ornaments, and 1/4 assorted ones.

I'm surprised you only have one tree. How big IS it?

carnation 07-17-2012 07:12 AM

Usually 8-9 feet.
