PartyLite sells them - the good ones. I'm not sure how expensive they are, but if I had to guess, pretty expensive. My friend has them in her house, though and they smell good.

OK, I'm finally sold. The reeds from the eBay seller smell great and they stay fragrant for days! The others I tried either didn't put out any smell (though the oil smelled good) or it would last a day.

Today my house has a luscious holiday fragrance! :)

And just a comment for reed "newbies." You must let the reeds sit in the oil for a day or two when you first get them, then turn them over and the smell will fill the room. After that, turning them every few weeks (or when smell diminishes) will be sufficient.
I like the Aromatique and Yankee Candle brands.

My hubby bought our first bottle/reeds from Pier One right before Xmas. We have a heavy smoker downstairs from us. And what a difference! Usually scented candles and such make me feel ill, but these have just enough fragrance. Thanks for the tip about flipping the reeds. I didn't know about that.

I'm taking some to my classroom to mask the smell of hoodies that are crawling with mildew or drenched in cigarette smoke. Ugh.

Me too!!!!

One of my students gave me one back in May and I put it in my room!!! It is just now running out of oil and smells really good!!! I wish I knew where they got it from!

On the other hand I get the cheap Target 2.50 section ones for my classroom. They stay strong for a couple of months and look nicer than the Glade things...I also like the cheap ones for class because if they fall or break for some strange reason, they were cheap!

i bought a cheap reed diffuser from walmart for around $5.00 right before I left for winter break. i'm pretty curious to go back tomorrow and see how strong my room smells. as far as yankee candle goes, what are some good scents? i want to order offline but obviously i'm scared what they'll smell like. Any good floral or clean scent suggestions?

I've never tried any of the ones made by other companies, but I love the ones from PartyLite. I think the Ocean Breeze one I have was like $40, but I've had it since May and it's still smells awesome and has at least 1/3 of the oil left.

I had some of them in my old school. The way the schedule was set up was the kids had lab once a week for 2 periods back to back. Typically, they had gym 4xs a week and once a week they were in lab. The other 4 days when they had gym they could be a SMELLY bunch. It worked well until one was knocked over one day, and took the finish off the desk.

Oh, and heres my tip about the reeds. The set I used was bamboo. When I went to replace the reed, it was going to cost me about $10-15 for about 5 of them. So instead, I went to the grocery store and bought bamboo skewers. Works just as well and smells the same, but are MUCH cheaper.

I LOVE the reeds I got from Pier One. I keep one in my walk-in closet and others in the living room and bathrooms. Pier One has a really great selection of different scents too -- nice to change them out seasonally.

DolphinChica, thanks for the tip on the bamboo! That's a great idea!

DH and I have used the ones from Yankee Candle too. Love them and they really give the whole room a nice scent. We have ALSO used those air fresheners you attach to your furnace/ac filter.............THOSE work really well too.
