"everything old is new again."
JC is nothing different than the gossip and slander that have been going around campi for years, and sometimes appearing in newspapers or other media...this just happens to be in a more modern form. 50 years from now you'll be able to stick your card in a slot and have this crap fed directly into your brain without having to read it. And it'll be the same kind of stuff. |

Sidenote: I also find it really weird that 90% of the Greek related gossip on my particular school's section involves GUYS talking about other fraternities. |
Well it's obvious (on my campus anyway) that the people saying bad things about sororities & fraternities are the ones that aren't in them and just go by what they heard as the stereotypes. From my experience, the Greeks actually respect each other. But then again, it's anonymous. Who knows? :)

The stuff I read about Bama sororities I have already heard elsewhere, and I imagine that's the case for a lot of the PNM's going through recruitment at big schools. They've probably already heard rumors from friends and family. There isn't a thing that can be done, but a PNM who doesn't join a sorority just because of what she read on Juicy Campus probably already knew what she wanted going in anyway, and was therefore easily swayed.

Juicy Campus has wreaked havoc on greek life at my school :(
People have gone as far as making "Prospect Lists" for sororities and fraternities. These lists have the full names of individuals who may/may not be interested individuals. I just think that this site has made it that much harder for prospects to remain discrete when people are putting their names out there. But then this site makes me want to question how "discrete" some prospects are being, if people are able to pick them out. On the other hand, you can't miss a huge group of people lined up 30 minutes early for an event hosted by XYZ sorority/fraternity... |

There IS NO DISCRETION at Howard University, are you kidding me? The P-Girls and the P-Boys are the non-Greeks who: Run or participate in Brother to Brother (Alphas) and Sister to Sister (Deltas) Join Circle K (AKAs) or NCNW (Deltas) or any of the other "feeder" organizations. Raising money for Africare (AKA) Pledged Pike (Kappa) The list goes on and on. And they have to line up that early because the Greeks will shut the doors if you arrive late. It's a mess. The campus social life rises and sets on greek life in some way, either the pursuit of it or the conscious avoidance of it. |
I saw this listing on Craigslist http://pullman.craigslist.org/com/915585587.html not even in Rants & Raves, but int he general section (wtf?). With the grammar and lack of punctuation, as well as poor sentence structure leading to incomplete sentences, this person should be more worried about "pledging the library" (TM SenusretI 2007).

Be that as it may, I still don't think that jealous individuals should make it their business to post the names of those interested and why said individuals should or shouldn't be a member of XYZ. If you know who a couple of prospects are, then cool you know who's interested. |
I've heard a lot of girls who were planning on rushing next year say that they no longer want to because of what they've read on JC. Not because of the rumors and reputations, but because they think that we're all catty and bitchy, which is actually completely untrue. It's sad that some people who are not even in greek life might end up ruining our panhellenic.

Who would want such closed-minded members in their sorority? |

I'm proud of my campus - we have not had ANYONE respond negatively to sorority postings on JC! All the responses have been either positive about all sororities or neutral, which is definitely okay :)

I never even heard of the site before reading about it on GC. Curiosity got the better of me. Wow...
I can't even imagine writing some of the things I read on there. The thread titles alone were naaaaaasty. Yuck! |
