Can you guys get in trouble for misrepresenting your ages on myspace?

They created the age segregation to keep older people from looking at the profiles of those younger. By setting your age to 14 or 15 you can now see all those younger profiles, as someone commented about earlier.

I am no criticising, I am more concerned with privacy than most of you.

But given the current militant climate you might show up on someone's watch list.

It would be disturbing if that went into some secret file and hurt you later, like if you had a background check or needed a security clearance.

It's another profile tracker, but the catch is, the only way it'll work is if the person viewing your profile is ALSO signed up for whosonmypage.com. If the person's not on that network, it's useless.

Yep, I just got sent that one by someone as well.

I changed my age back to 25, and this morning I already had two sketchy friend requests.

ETA: Also, James, I've actually heard that point before. The way I see it, if they wanted to check it out, they could find out whose pages you were viewing/who you were sending messages to, and what you were saying in those messages.

Hokay, I got an email from ProfileSnoop telling me that they've developed two new codes to see who's looking at your page.

It's freaking complicated so I'll just direct you guys over there because I don't want to get into it. One involves creating a blog group and the other one is similar to the code that BetteDavisEyes posted (just a different code).

I did all they told me to do for the blog code, but I have no idea if it really works because hits to my page are very few these days :p so if it works for y'all...let us know!

ETA: Ok, I think that when you post the blog code, what happens is that visitors go to your page, a new browser opens to your Blog page, and you get a message in your inbox saying "so-and-so wants to join your blog group"...they have a copy of that message in their sent box, but they're probably thinking "WTF?" when that new browser opens.

It's pretty cool because a) you know who's looking at your page and b) you know how many times they're looking at your page -- who knows when Tom and the MySpace fools will block it, though?

Myspace has just blocked those codes again. Bastards!

I think MySpace has officially jumped the shark because they were talking about it on DVE this morning. ha ha.

The old codes lasted a few days. This one lasted less than a day.

What's effed up is that the guy who developed the code has two others (better ones) that are still working, but the catch is, you gotta donate $5 via PayPal to get it. People are raving about it, but I don't get it...

Why pay $$$ for a code that MySpace will eventually block anyway? Dumbasses.

And the support forums for ProfileSnoop has changed. To even view the forum you have to have 30 genuine posts in other discussions first.

where is the occupation link (it is supposed to show up in the details box)?

AznSAE 04-07-2006 04:18 PM

nevermind found it under "basic info."

AlphaGamDiva 04-08-2006 11:28 AM

i'm on here....haven't figured it all out yet, but i'm on. My myspace

BetteDavisEyes 04-17-2006 12:36 PM

Myspace is pissing me off. Everytime I try to hide my last login, it tells me there's been an error & I get kicked off & have to sign in again. What the hell is going on?

dzandiloo 04-17-2006 10:48 PM

OK. I have a question for you myspace experts...need advice on how to handle something.

Today I got an e-mail via myspace from someone I didn't know. Looked @ the pic by the note - looked like a nice guy holding two kids about 7-9 years old...smiling family portrait. The content of the e-mail itself is VILE...basically a question about what sorts of intimate activities I enjoy. So I click on the guys profile...it's so benign...talks about what a great single dad he is, how inspired he was by the example his father set...he's a CHRISTIAN...only been in love one time, blah, blah, blah.

I'm so pissed. So first, I just blocked him. But I cannot stand the thought that this dude is out there, and really want to post the text of the e-mail, including a link to his profile, in my blog.

Talk me out of it...I'm sure the ignore function is best...I don't need cyber-harassment, but there is absolutely NOTHING about my myspace that would suggest I would welcome such an e-mail (not to mention my profile pic is of the DH and me...). Seriously. WTF is wrong with people????

I'd be pissed too! But, in this case, I think it's best to remember that he probably wants attention, and is probably a pretty worthless person. As my mama always says, "Life is not for everyone. Some people are just taking up space." This guy is one of those; responding would just probably make him send you more emails. And that would be...ew.
