My guess is someone made it up for e-mail forwards, then it made it to blogs/forums. Still pretty funny. ;) |

Well, it's obviously not a real news story; simply written as one. It's not something Snopes will pick up, I don't think. This is not really even a fake news story. It's an analogy, and, IMHO, a very good one, though written as a story. The real point is that even Deanna Farvre (if there even is such a person; I barely know Brett Farve plays football) wouldn't be that stupid; yet the American public can be. |

I am pretty emphatically not a Hillary fan, and yet, the analogy pretty much falls apart on any level:
Brett Favre's wife has never played football or any sport seriously as far as I know that would make her in any way qualified take over her husband's jobs. Hillary on the other hand, as much as I dislike her, is fairly well qualified politician at this point in her own right. Her Senate experience puts her at the same level as Thompson, and Obama, if we're just looking at being elected and serving in the Senate (as opposed to actually holding views or supporting the positions we want to see supported, which I prefer as qualifications). Sure, her experience is limited and it's largely a result of the exposure that she got being married to Bill, but to compare the situation to the Brett Favre's wife taking over for him seems simply absurd. ETA: If Lynne Cheney actually ran for office would you consider her well qualified? I think I would. I think this Hillary/Favre thing would be less attractive as an analogy if anything Hillary said was something that you agreed with. |
Pair wheels dead man to store to cash his Social Security check, police say
Pair wheels dead man to store to cash his Social Security check, police say
NEW YORK - Two men wheeled a dead man through the streets in an office chair to a check-cashing store Tuesday and tried to cash his Social Security check before being arrested on fraud charges, police said. David J. Dalaia and James O'Hare pushed Virgilio Cintron's body from the Manhattan apartment that O'Hare and Cintron shared to Pay-O-Matic, about a block away, spokesman Paul Browne said witnesses told police. "The witnesses saw the two pushing the chair with Cintron flopping from side to side and the two individuals propping him up and keeping him from flopping from side to side," Browne said. The men left Cintron's body outside the store, went inside and tried to cash his $355 check, Browne said. The store's clerk, who knew Cintron, asked the men where he was, and O'Hare told the clerk they would go and get him, Browne said. A police detective who was having lunch at a restaurant next to the check-cashing store noticed a crowd forming around Cintron's body, and "it's immediately apparent to him that Cintron is dead," Browne said. The detective called uniformed New York Police Department officers at a nearby precinct. Emergency medical technicians arrived as O'Hare and Dalaia were preparing to wheel Cintron's body into the check-cashing store, Browne said. Police arrested Dalaia and O'Hare there, he said. Cintron's body was taken to a hospital morgue. The medical examiner's office told police it appeared Cintron, 66, had died of natural causes within the previous 24 hours, Browne said. "He was deceased in the apartment when he was removed by these two," Browne said. Dalaia and O'Hare, both 65, were being held by police and faced check fraud charges, Browne said. A call to a telephone number listed for Cintron at the apartment he shared with O'Hare went unanswered Tuesday evening. Police said they didn't have an address for Dalaia or attorney information for him or O'Hare. |

My questions: no blood test was done? but did they consummate the marriage? They talked all around that. Did they have kids?:eek: |

uh....blood tests aren't done to do dna matching. IF they are required it is more of a STD check, or to test for Measles antibodies etc. I think it is less gross because they didn't even know they were related seeing has how they were adopted and grew up not knowing about each other. I think it is sad to find your love and then find out that they are your sibling. It would be scary to be adopted knowing that could happen. |
It strikes me as some much more tragic than disgusting although incest certainly is icky.
It's hard to thing of something that would mess with your head anymore than the circumstances described. I'm not sure if what I'm about to say is real information or more something I learned in a Law and Order ripped from the headlines kind of way, but isn't there concern about this happening with the half-sibling children of the same anonymous sperm donor. Don't they have limits on the number of times a particular donor can be used so there's not like 100 kids with the same dad in one city who don't realize they are related? |
