I think it's crap that users have to change their age just to make their profiles private. Surely they could have developed a way to make it private without having to change your age. I've been thinking about making mine private as well, but I know that I may have friends out there who might not be able to tell who I am just by my profile pic alone. I've changed my settings so that you need to know either my last name or e-mail to add me, though. |

My pic is pretty obvious that it's me, so I figure at this point that if anyone wants to add me they can do so or email me. I wasn't going to change the age, but I started getting a few sketchy requests, and it wasn't worth my time to have to check names that I didn't recognize (especially if they were similar to names of friends I have). |
i keep getting messages from random ass bands, asking me to check out their profile and add them as a friend.
uh, yeah, no. i'm sorry, but that's a loser move. so tell me again why would i add you?? |

And I'm one of those MySpace addicts that gets excited everytime I see a red envelope with New Messages! It's always a bummer when it's from idiots who want me to refinance my house or trashy hoez who want me to look at the webcam. And regarding bands, I don't mind one bit if local bands ask me to come look at their page and listen to their music. I've discovered a bunch of good groups whose gigs I've been to and had a great time. I don't get it when I get requests from bands hailing from Podunkville, USA, though. What I really don't get are people who think they're adding "celebrities". It's pretty obvious if it's really their page or not (personal pics, and not just ones you can get off the net; random info the public might not know about, etc) -- and it's quite entertaining knowing that MySpace is filled with morons who believe it's really them. |

Why are you making fun of me? I swear those profiles are real! |

I don't know how he found me, probably when I still had that stripper picture up, but Theo from Road Rules sent me a message last year and he's added as a friend. I figured it was him because he had dates for his comedy gigs posted and updated all the time...and he had loads of pictures of him and Tim mooning the camera (probably from a Gauntlet/Inferno/BoS challenge). |
LMFAO @ all the celebrity ones...especially the ones that say, for example "Ali Hilfiger--Friends and celebs only" where they restrict their myspace to only "celebs" and then they'll have like 5 different profiles of each celeb. LMFAO.
I know that the Christina Milian profile I have as a friend (or had, i dont know if i deleted her or not) was the REAL Christina. I was part of her fan club, so i got emails weekely and she gave us all her myspace link..lmfao. |

Well considering I work at the Info desk at the Student Union....there's really not much else to do. If I don't have homework. |
ProfileSnoop
Hokay, I got an email from ProfileSnoop telling me that they've developed two new codes to see who's looking at your page. It's freaking complicated so I'll just direct you guys over there because I don't want to get into it. One involves creating a blog group and the other one is similar to the code that BetteDavisEyes posted (just a different code). I did all they told me to do for the blog code, but I have no idea if it really works because hits to my page are very few these days :p so if it works for y'all...let us know! ETA: Ok, I think that when you post the blog code, what happens is that visitors go to your page, a new browser opens to your Blog page, and you get a message in your inbox saying "so-and-so wants to join your blog group"...they have a copy of that message in their sent box, but they're probably thinking "WTF?" when that new browser opens. It's pretty cool because a) you know who's looking at your page and b) you know how many times they're looking at your page -- who knows when Tom and the MySpace fools will block it, though? |
ok let me go snoop on you now.
did you see me? |
