Tippiechick... he's been that way in every post I've seen him do on all of the different threads. Seriously, don't even worry about him.
I've read through this thread, and I'm curious-- are there any smaller GLO's on campus at Ole Miss who don't play the important role in Greek life as the strong nationals? I'm reading this from the perspective of someone who went to a school that was extremely anti-Greek, both in administration and student body, and who was part of one of the professional GLO's that essentially get ignored as "false" sororities (sadly). I can't comprehend a new member class of more than eleven, nor a chapter of over 25! If there are other professional/multicultural GLO's, how are they viewed on campus? ~ Mel. |
Measi,
Thanks. As for your question, I think OleMissGlitter or HottyToddy could better answer your questions. I have been back in TN for 5 years now. I think OleMissGlitter mentioned that a service glo was filling the niche left by ZTA. But, they will know better than I about the current situation. |
To answer Measi, we have the following service/professional/honoray GLO's with a good presence at Ole Miss:
Omega Phi Alpha--new in 2003 http://www.olemiss.edu/orgs/opa/ Alpha Phi Omega Kappa Kappa Psi http://www.olemiss.edu/orgs/kkpsi/ Sigma Alpha Iota http://www.olemiss.edu/orgs/sai/ I think we have Tau Beta Sigma, a friend of mine was a member. |
Okay, Erik C is a senile old SOB just as I am!:)
He has been around and worked with so many different size Schools and Chapters as I have! So, Ole Miss is a land unto it self, so be it!:D Good for all of the Old Miss. Greeks. Your world a may be different than the real world whether it be in The North or The South! You have Utopia! God Bless You for The Garden of Eden Of Greek Life that you live in! Live in your little world and good for you! How about the Schools around you or all over the Country? |
What the F$%K
Those number's are crazy. Do you ladies know all the girls in your Sorority? I am in such an ah ya'll have no idea. My co-worker who is a Gamma Phi Beta is in an ah too. Best of luck pledging those girls.

It is very difficult to know everyone in your sorority at Ole Miss. In most cases everyone at least knows everyone's faces. Sometimes those members who aren't as involved don't know all of the members. For the ones who are involved--it's not as hard to know everyone. I wouldn't change it though. Whether I know them very well or not I still love that so many people are a part of the same organization.
With that being said..I think it would be great for another sorority to come on campus. But the others are already so large and so established that it would be difficult for another one to just jump right in and compete--even with the support of the whole campus. |
I agree with Miss HottyToddy, you can know everyone if you are involved. I think that members who only do the bare minimums of what is required to be in a sorority are missing out on so much. Also, all of the sororities at Ole Miss are great about having sisterhood retreats and philanthropies where you can get to know all of your sisters. Some sororities have weekends filled with nothing but hanging out with your sisters and getting to know all of them.
It might seem like we have crazy numbers here at Ole Miss but in reality, it works and I'd say all 9 of the NPC chapters here are in top chapters with their organizations. Therefore, we must be doing something right. |
sign off time....
yeah, Tom, I agree with you. We have tossed out our varied
opinions on Ole Miss. Time to move on to another topic, let the whole thing go. Oh, ever see how the state, as a whole, ranks as regards education? Read the Chronicle of Higher Education, a contemporary assessment will emerge from time time. It might dawn on folks that there are a lot of old codgers like us, and that there are several thousand dormant chapters of all groups which went under due to lack of advisement. Because we may get roasted on this site does not necessarily mean we'd be drawn and quartered elsewhere. Most are not our peers, have not walked in our mocassins, lived as long, or gotten the experience. We mean well. Good luck, Ole Miss, and likely you will thrive with your lot. Stay there...But should you venture up north, you will still be greeted with fraternal courtesy. |
Oh and by the way everyone!
This weekend is Chi Chapter of DDD's 100th anniversary. Their National President is in town and they have more than 600 DDDs in town for the celebration! It is a very big deal! CONGRATS LADIES! |
Congrats to our Chi Chapter! That is awesome...

Ah E C, once again you deem to present youself in a True and Goodly manner!:)
Sensibility reigns and the world is right out side of Oford. I always thought those were soxs!:D Oh, maybe shoes:p Each world has their own nitch to be in and I would not feel comforatable trying to figure out Whose on First! Why I wonder if this Institution is so Fantastic or there only 9 NPC Groups there??? Some one of the Stuature that is represented on here can explain that if OLD MISS is so good, why is not everyone of the 26 (?) NPH Greek Organizations not there! Is Old Missy that good? |
When are you(Tom and Erik)going to realize that unless you go OleMiss you are really not able to comment on the system there? Just because a campus has all 26 NPCs -(and no campus in the country does, though a small few come close), doesn't mean anything.
Stop stirring the pot. |
Ole Miss Good

Now lets move on. :D |
Ole Miss is better than good, it's FABULOUS!
GO REBELS! GO OLE MISS! |
Well, Good for Old Miss. Now while All 26 NPH Groups are not representated at Any School, for one such as Old Miss. Stature with kazillions of members in each House where no one knows all of the members, I am just asking The Question, what is wrong with this picture?:(
"YOU DO NOT KNOW ALL OF YOUR MEMBERS"? Then asking ignorantly, how is this a Tight Sister Hood? Reminds me of Classes where everyone sat in a huge room and knew no one but went to that class and the Professor had no idea who in the hell they were except for a seating chart! Live in Eden! Small as it is but seems so huge! |
