I will agree that Wisconsin no longer has an instate rival. I think Marquette is probably the only school large enough to ever be one, and like I said earlier, we haven't had football here in years.

As for ragging on the lower branches of the UW system - ragging on all the schools in Wisconsin is a huge tradition! Out of my graduating class of 450, approx. 400 of us went to college, and out of those 400 I believe 370 stayed in Wisconsin. We have tons of of lightbulb and drinking emails circulated and it's all in good fun.

Another interesting fact is that Wisconsin used to have separate systems up until very recently...the UW system and the WSU system. I believe they merged in the 60s or 70s.

What i did say, is that it is perfectly fine to have a team that you root for at a school you didn't attend. I myself am a Duke basketball FAN, because i respect Coach K and the institution. Note i said i'm a fan and not a BLUE DEVIL. I cheer for Duke, but i consider it CLASSLESS for me to talk trash or act superior to ALUMS of schools that Duke plays and beats.

Class has nothing to do with whether or not you attend a given institution. Classy people don't trash talk, when it comes to their school or anyone else's.

Fortunately Kath and I never claimed to be classy.

The Aggies and their success or lack thereof has nothing to do with this. I mentioned Nebraska as an example because their reputation is well known throughout the country as well as their numerous championships.

I don't equate my love and devotion to A&M with their gridiron success. I would much rather be an Aggie and have a horrible football team than have attended Cookie Cutter U and have a national power. Texas A&M is not a school name on my diploma and ring, it is another select fraternity that i am a part of and paid my dues to become a member of. I love my alma mater very much and take great offense when those who have a casual attachment to some random school based on their football success deem it necessary to belittle Texas A&M.

I didn't bring this topic up to elict a discussion on who is qualified to 'talk trash'. Personally, i give a hard time to the longwhorns, because they are our RIVALs and i have a great many friends that attended t.u. and good natured ribbing is part of the rivalry. I give a hard time to the Red Raiders, because, well, they deserve it. I challenge you to find a post of mine on GC crowing over an A&M in a classless manner.

While Ohio State is by far the best known, the state of Ohio has eight or ten D-1 Teams and a pretty good group of schools.

Please understand that. I understand that Dearborn is a satellite school of UM Ann Arbor and that's fine. Call yourself a wolverine all you want, but i'm willing to bet there are Ann Arbor students who would agree with me. My initial post wasn't directed at you or anyone in particular. A&M has a satellite in Galveston. They too pull A&M tickets. However, they AREN'T Aggies. They are Sea Aggies. A&M is more than classes and diploma. There is a unique experience you can only achieve having attended classes in College Station.

I guess it's just different. To me, one of the biggest insults i could ever recieve is to be called a "Bad Ag" or a 2%er (the 2 percent of the people who attend A&M who don't show the true Aggie Spirit). Being an Aggie is extremely important to me, so i wouldn't want to represent myself as something else. I guess i wouldn't know what it's like to go to a school that doesn't have enough pride in itself that the students have to affiliate with their flagship institution or other in-state school.

And yes, i am A god, not THE god, but A god, and all you hippie liberals out there sure are gonna be shocked when you get up here.

This is just a wild guess, but I don't think either of you is going to change the other's mind, so how about we just agree to disagree and move along?

My college does not have a football team, so I certainly see nothing wrong with cheering for Wisconsin's. You can rest assured I have somebody to cheer for during basketball season (you may be familiar with us from last year's FINAL FOUR) so Wisconsin can go ahead continue wishing they were as good as us then. I wouldn't say that Marquette has no pride, and I doubt anybody who's been on our campus has either.

In Division II, my alma mater, the University of Central Oklahoma is now 7-0 after a 6-7 season last year! As of last week we were 9th in DII and should be higher this week.

We just took down East Central University (another LSC team). There was an amazing play where our QB came out to return a punt and took it all the way... Anyone else know of a QB that does that?

This was his first time to play on Special Teams -- and I've never really thought of the guy as a mobile QB. Either he is.. or ECU and their 1-7 record is a REALLY bad team.

I don't think we'll take down Valdosta State or Grand Valley this year... But we should be on their radar in coming years.

I'm going to the Big House next weekend to watch my Boilers take on Michigan! I can't wait. I'm gonna be sitting in the UM student section, too! I'm from Michigan and I have a lot of friends who go there, so I'm really excited!

I'm gonna be decked out in black and gold and singing "Hail Purdue" on the top of my lungs! Hopefully the Wolverine fans won't throw things at me and my friend — based on the fact that we're both cute and blonde! haha

But if they throw things, I don't care! They're not gonna stop me from cheering :)

yeah, the hit was B.S. It would have been nice to have a chance to win the game, but like most of our players Bua had his head up his arse and messed it up. By the way, it would be nice if we could play the first 3 quarters too, they also count in the outcome of a game.

glad we're not playin in fayettenam next weekend, we play a hell of a lot better on the road or in Little Rock than we do there.

Previous #2 Grand Valley took a tumble this week to #9 in the polls as they were upset by Saginaw State.

Sorry Tom, your #5 Pittsburgh State Gorillas also dropped in the polls to #10 after a loss to Emporia State.

Valdosta State still looks pretty powerful. Ya'll are posting some pretty huge crowds according to the stories I've read. My school, Central Oklahoma is lucky to get 6000 people to show up for a game. By the way... we moved up to #6 in the polls:D after the previously mentioned beating of East Central University in Ada, OK.

My prediction? Valdosta should win the national championship this year. They've been posting ridiculous scores on folks. They're the Oklahoma U of DII:D

Hopefully Central OK will make it a few games into the playoffs but lately, we've been playing like Ohio State. Great defense, great special teams (our QB is now returning punts for TD's) and so-so offense. Central OK was playing great offense at the beginning of the year when we blew out now #18 Mesa State in the year's first game.

DII football I'll have to say is an entirely different type of football. Just as entertaining as DI but without TV timeouts:D
