Palin makes Obama terrorist claim
Please turn on JavaScript. Media requires JavaScript to play. Sarah Palin accuses Obama of associating with 'a domestic terrorist' US Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin has accused the Democratic presidential candidate, Barack Obama, of associating with terrorists. She said he had been "palling around" with an ex-member of US-based militant group Weather Underground, which opposed the Vietnam War in the 1960s. Mr Obama once served on a charity board with a member of the group, but he has denounced its activities. A Democratic spokesman accused the Republicans of gutter politics. "What's clear is that John McCain and Sarah Palin would rather spend their time tearing down Barack Obama than laying out a plan to build up our economy," Hari Sevugan said. Commentators say Mrs Palin's attack forms part of a broader Republican strategy to attack Mr Obama's character. Denunciation Speaking to supporters in Colorado and later in a Los Angeles suburb, Alaska Governor Palin said the time had come to take the gloves off. Quoting a New York Times article, she attacked Senator Obama over his link to Bill Ayers, a founder of the Weather Underground, which waged a violent campaign against the Vietnam War. The group was blamed for a number of bombings in the US in the 1960s. Mrs Palin described Mr Obama as someone who saw the US "as being so imperfect... he is palling around with terrorists who would target their own country". Mr Obama served on a charity board several years ago with Mr Ayers, who is now a professor at the University of Illinois. The White House hopeful, who was a child when Weather Underground was active, has denounced Mr Ayers' radical past. Focus on healthcare The Alaska governor also said she wished the McCain campaign had not this week pulled out of the battleground state of Michigan, effectively conceding it to the Democrats. Mr Obama meanwhile attacked the healthcare plans of Republican presidential nominee John McCain. Speaking to some 18,000 people at a rally in Virginia, Senator Obama described the Arizona senator's policy as "radical" and claimed 20 million people would be left out by it. HAVE YOUR SAY I'm a McCain supporter, but Palin really needs to fire the person who told her to say that J Young, USA A spokesman for Mr McCain, who is in his home state preparing for Tuesday's second presidential debate, said that was "a bald-faced lie". Healthcare is important to voters and the Obama campaign has unveiled new adverts attacking Mr McCain on the issue in every battleground state. Mr Obama's Virginia rally came ahead of a Monday deadline for voters to register there and in more than a dozen other states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Florida. Voter turnout could be vital in deciding the outcome of the 4 November presidential election. Meanwhile, viewing figures show a record 69.9 million people tuned in to watch Mrs Palin take part in Thursday's televised vice-presidential debate with Democratic nominee Joe Biden. Story from BBC NEWS: http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/pr/fr/-/2/h...as/7653132.stm Published: 2008/10/05 11:57:13 GMT © BBC MMVIII Oh Great! Now Obama was a Child Terrorist! Barack was born in 1961...so...how exactly did he participate. From this point on, the Republicans have gone too far. |
The only things they can tie Obama with Ayers is that they were in this committee together and that they live in the same neighborhood. The Rev. Wright thing eventually failed, so do they think this is going to work?
This is what happens when they let the moose loose (thanks Mom for the quote!). Her and McSame need to GTHOOH. |
This is a sad last-ditch effort to take the spotlight of Governor Palin's lack of preparation and national experience. She has been backed into a corner and is doing her best to come out swinging (or slinging I should say) whatever anyone will listen to. So desperate and ineffective...

...talk about thorough
I've done voter registration at my church for about a month or so. We have two services (8/ 10:45) and make registration available between and after services.
Reps of both parties can speak briefly during election season. Yesterday the Obama folks showed they are coming hard for Ohio. A Texas Obama volunteer spoke at the 8 a.m. service, and two California Obama volunteers? (at least one woman was from Cali) were at the 10:45 service. After service, they rolled up on my registration table. I was like, hol up, hol up, ....I got this here :D No, for real they inquired about our early voting mobilization efforts and whether they could be of help. They had charts and cross-referenced addresses, etc., everything. They appear to be quite serious about this "community organizing" thing. |
just spreading the word...:D
TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE IN GA, FL, IN, MI, OH, PA & VA. DO NOT GET LAX!!! THE CAMPAIGN WILL GET MUCH HARDER OVER THE NEXT MONTH!!! PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS SO THAT EVERYONE REGISTERS!!! October 6th IS THE DATE!!! Are you registered? Are your friends and family? If you only forward one email to your friends, family, and neighbors today -- make it this one. Each and every vote is absolutely crucial to victory on Election Day. In 2004, John Kerry took the state by a mere 2.5% of voters. Visit VoteForChange.com, our one-stop voter registration website, and register before the Pennsylvania deadline. |
I guess her rep didn't tell her that the association with that org had already come out about back in the spring or so before he even beat Hillary in delegates towards the nomination. In typical fashion, Sarah Palin wasn't paying attention to what was going on in the rest of the country, I guess. We know that she wasn't paying attention to Bush's preemption policy in 2004, and he was the President and a member of her own party.
This just plays up again the fact that she is so out of her league and ill-prepared that it really just boggles the mind. SC Quote:

That grumpy old man needs to sit down somewhere!!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081006/ap_on_el_pr/mccain He truly forgot that he has come out with a book or two himself. And let's not forget Keating Five or Libby. |
Sarah Palin is Governor of a State with 600,000 people. My city has 3 million people in it. She is not ready to lead the country.
This race is getting very exciting. The debates last nighgt were great and Obama did well.My only issue with Obama was his lack of defense experience. But Ithink he handled it very well and I think he is ready to be a Commander in Chief. As someone who has fought in Iraq, I agree with him that we need to send more troops to Afghanistan. They are hurting overthere and need some help. Iraq is getting better. |
Quote:
I know you say that you think he is ready to be CinC but every time someone brings up the experience argument, I would like to know the reasoning behind the statement. Thanks! |
Jimmy Carter was in the Navy, Ronald Reagan was in the Air Corps(although he worked in public affairs) , GF Bush was in the Navy, and GW Bush was in the Air National Guard (although he never saw combat)
But you are right. Franklin Roosevelt was never inthe military (he was Sec of thr Navy) and he took us through the biggest war this country has ever seen. What I meant by my statement is that to me, because I am in the military, I want my Commander in Chief to at least have some idea of what I go through before they make decisions that affect me and my family. I agree that Obama will have advisors and I am sure he will consult his advisors. Something GW Bush didnt do. |
Y'all knew this was coming....

Love it!!!! :D

06,
I am curious to know how you feel about John McCain's p-sspoor performance at the military academy that he attended and then his poor performance while in the service, replete with accidents galore. Does the fact that McCain was in the military alone make you believe that he can understand or would you require someone with slightly better military-related performance? Just curious, SC ETA: Personally, I think it might be time for another Prez W/OUT military experience. Those presidencies seem to be the only ones when we are not wrapped up in a war (at least recently). Think Desert Storm, Iraq, etc. Maybe a Prez W/OUT military experience would be less inclined to send you into harm's way 06pilot. Quote:

I must admit though....I was mad as hayle when he said that...I was like I know he DIDNT just call the next PRESIDENT of these United States "that one". Just rude..that's why his grumpy a$$ left as SOON as it was over..... |

How do you evaluate McCain's stance, not just his words but his record? He has served and so have/are his son's, father and grandfather. Yet he receives a worse rating from vets groups than Obama, he voted against many bills for troop and vet funding AND appeared reckless in launching our curent wars. |
Here's a PBS poll about whether Sarah Palin is qualified to be VP. The Repubs are apparently flooding it and it shows a 49%-49% yes-no split.
Vote now. The poll will be reported on PBS and picked up by mainstream media. It can influence undecided voters in swing states. Please do two things -- it takes 20 seconds. 1) Click on link and vote yourself. Here's the link: http://www.pbs.org/now/polls/poll-435.html |
I just came from the Obama campaign headquarters in my area and they need volunteers in North Carolina (and I think Georgia too, but don't quote me). If you go on the campaign website it will give you information about volunteering in other states.

I took my family to see Obama in Philly yesterday. This man is awesome; his political machine is outstanding!
Also, I ran across an interesting article on the whole guilt-by-association meme...check it out... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mike-l..._b_133758.html |
I saw him in West Philly yesterday. It was crazy, amazing and moving. So many different people all in one place for one purpose. Hearing his voice sent the crowd into euphoria.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...0/IMG_0342.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...0/IMG_0344.jpg sorry no pics of him I was too far away but I did get to see him with my own eyes....le sigh |
A non-politically active friend of mine, who knows I follow politics/support Obama, asked me how I could support someone who didn't pledge the flag or sing the anthem. He was teasing me, but HOW IN THE WORLD ARE PEOPLE STILL CAUGHT UP BY THE LIES?
He almost has an excuse, he doesn't watch the news, nor intend to vote (and damn it he's in Virginia ) but the people who brought the email into work and were talking about it? *Growl* |
He lives in VA and DOESNT WATCH THE NEWS? NOT EVEN NEWSCHANNEL 8???!!! Wow..
|
Must-Watch Video -- Golly, Sarah!!
I don't know how many of you have seen this "Special Comment" on Sarah Palin by Keith Olbermann, but .....well ..... just wow.

Fidel Castro's take
Castro says it's a 'miracle' Obama hasn't been assassinated
12 Oct, 2008, 1807 hrs IST, AGENCIES HAVANA: Former Cuban president Fidel Castro charged that American society was marked by "profound racism" and that it was a "pure miracle" that US pr esidential hopeful Barack Obama has not been assassinated. "Profound racism exists in the United States," Castro wrote in a commentary that appeared on the website Cubadebate Saturday as he weighed in on the US presidential race ahead of the November 4 election. "Millions of whites cannot reconcile in their minds with the idea that a black man with his wife and children would move into the White House, which is called just like that -- White," he wrote. He added that it was a "pure miracle" the Illinois senator, who became the first black politician to win the Democratic Party's presidential nomination, had not been assassinated thus far. The ailing Cuban communist leader, who handed power to his brother Raul earlier this year, described Obama as a politician who "has the habit of looking at his opponent with serenity and laughing at his rhetorical attacks." Castro's comments came as a war of words with racial undertones marked the US White House race after civil rights icon John Lewis accused Republican candidate John McCain of sowing "hatred" against Obama, who is developing a commanding lead in opinion polls. Castro also mocked McCain's poor grades at the naval academy and said Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin "knew nothing at all about anything." Copyright © 2008 Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd. All rights reserved. For reprint rights: Times Syndication Service Fidel isn't the only one suprised about the "pure miracle". And I am kind of feeling Castro on the fact that the Bradley Effect is real. |
Nachural..thx for the pics.....that is awesome!!!

I'm sure Hugo Chavez will have a commentary about the election soon too. |
Barack Obama is definitely a better man than I, because if McStiff would have ever copped an attitude with me like he just did (referencing "if you wanted to run against George Bush, you should have run four years ago).
I would have straight BIATCH slapped him:mad::mad: |
/\/\/\ I hear ya. McPAIN is a total tool. He is too busy trying to get in jabs and cheap shots than worrying about answering the questions.
I guess when you have so much riding on this debate, you will cut the monkey. |
...so why did I hear it reported that Joe the Plumber is not even registered to vote? :o
McCain got the soundbite of the night (running against Bush), but he needed so much more. Last night's debate was pretty much a crystalization of the last 3 weeks. The public, if the post-debate polls are to be believed, has gotten comfortable with the concept of Barack Obama as president. People are not really feeling "outrage" (real or perceived), when the 401(k) is taking a beatdown. |

Joe the Plumber is a registered Republican and voted in the Republican primary. He also claims he's a fan of McSame. And Joe is not even a licenced (sp) plumber.
I think the candidates need to talk to Uncle Jitterbug the Plumber. At least he has his plumbing papers (and will most likely vote for Obama). :p :D |
So, Joe is BOOTLEG?!?!?!?
HILARIOUS! |

Joe is McPalin's pal http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/1..._n_135367.html who was not properly vetted http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/1..._n_135211.html . ETA: Here is another really good one! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/martin..._b_135468.html Overall, I know that Obama won the debate hands down. At least this time, McSame LOOKED at him, even if it was to hurl debunked insults, rumors, lies and half-truths. <<<---- yes, this is what McSame did numerous times. I thought his eyes were going to get stuck in the back of his head! Obama was clearly the ADULT here. |

But I do feel for him though - I'm sure he NEVER thought that his simple question to Obama would turn into all this! |
