A K.Lo interview from TVGuide.com....
http://tvguide.com/newsgossip/insider/ TVGO: Do you have a recording contract yet? Locke: It's going slow, because the tour takes precedence over everything. I am keeping my name out there and talking to several people who are trying to get a feel of what direction I want to go in. I do not have a deal yet. I hope she gets a contract! She's fabulous! She and Clay were my favorites from the very beginning. :) |
I came in on Oprah about a half hour into the show and it seemed to me that all they talked about was Clay. I was wondering if they talked about Ruben more at first and I just missed it or if they just talked about Clay the whole time. Did anyone like Justin's song? I thought it was missing something, but I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was.
|
I came into the show about half way also. They did talk a lot about Clay. Maybe I missed Ruben as well.
Someone told me last night that they heard that Ruben wouldn't be wearing his "205" shirts anymore. The person was "under the influence", so I didn't really take it to heart. Has anyone heard anything like this in their part of the world?? |
Ruben was on first. For the reason why he's not wearing 205 shirts any longer, click on the link

If you put the CD in your computer (or at least Ruben's CD) you get this special AI program that gives you automatic updates about the show. It also has extras such as AI2 buddy icons for AIM.
|
I got the special program on my CD, but then I couldn't get the CD to play!! I had to put the CD in a regular CD player to hear Ruben!!
|
Ok everyone on here knows that I was for Clay, I really did think that he was the best singer, but this is just a slap in the face to Rueben! Look at the next cover of Rolling Stone

OMG his shirt is open, lol.

Why does Clay look so SWEET in this photo? |

Clay actually was my favorite during the compeition, but this is really a slap in the face to Ruben. Actually though, I heard Clay's single is selling better than Ruben's so that may have something to do with it. |
See, during the competition, I liked Clay, but now with all this additional media time that he is getting over Ruben, I'm liking him a little less every time I see him. Like this morning on Regis and Kelly, they talked to him more than anybody else that was on from AI, and I agree with DeltaQTE when she says: WHO WON AMERICAN IDOL AGAIN?????

C'mon now. VIBE where are you!! I'd really love to see Ruben on that cover. |

If it counts for anything, Ruben was on the cover of JET.
|
On Access Hollywood, an editor from Rolling Stone was discussing why they choose Clay over Ruben. He stated it was because Clay has more "charisma" and because he had something to tell and was going to tell it. WTF??? The article talks about, among other things, Clay's father AKA "sperm donor" and the fact that Clay bites his toenails. That is just plain NASTY!!! :o Especially with Clay's giant clown feet.
|
RUUUUUUUUUUBEN Update
This morning on the Doug Banks show they said that Ruben will have a small part in the Scooby Doo sequel and is also in the studio doing a song with Fat Joe.
|
If they rerun the 100 Greatest Songs of Country on CMT, y'all should check out K Lo's rendition of Crazy. She blew it up. It is on at the start of the last hour of the show.
How do you bite your toenails??? I can barely get my foot up to my mouth. That is so disgusting. If they were gonna have a NON winner from American Idol they shoulda had K. Lo. |

Aiken, Studdard Storm Billboard Chart
The top two "American Idol" contestants capture the top two spots on Billboard's Hot 100, as Clay Aiken's "This Is the Night" (RCA) debuts at No. 1 and Ruben Studdard's "Flying Without Wings" (J Records) opens at No. 2. It's the first time in the 45-year history of the Hot 100 that the top two positions are new entries. Aiken's "This Is the Night" is the first song to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100 since 1998, and the first since chart rules were changed to allow airplay-only tracks to appear on the chart alongside commercially released singles. Those new chart policies make it almost impossible for a song to enter the chart in pole position, or in the top-5, but the massive sales on the two "Idol" singles made their historic debuts possible. Aiken's single sold nearly 393,000 copies and Studdard's single moved nearly 286,000 units, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "This Is the Night" boasts the biggest one-week sales figures since Elton John's "Candle in the Wind 1997." Aiken was the runner-up on "American Idol," with just 130,000 votes out of 25 million separating him from Studdard's first-place finish. The winner was guaranteed a recording contract, but Aiken didn't know he would also have a record deal until he heard judge Simon Cowell announce on the series' finale that he and Studdard would have their singles released on the same day. "This Is the Night" is the second No. 1 single by an "American Idol" contestant. Kelly Clarkson, winner of the series' first season competition, spent two weeks on top of the Hot 100 in October 2002 with "A Moment Like This" (RCA). Clarkson shares a No. 1 position this week in Billboard with Aiken, as her song "Miss Independent" moves to No. 1 on Billboard's Top 40 Tracks chart, which measures airplay at top 40 radio. The Aiken and Studdard singles debut at No. 1 and No. 2 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Sales tally. The artists also appear on the No. 3 entry, the American Idol Finalists' "God Bless the U.S.A.," which had been No. 1 for eight weeks |
News from MTV.com
Joshua Gracin, the fourth runner-up on "American Idol 2," has dropped out of the group's summer tour in order to complete military training. "We're sad that Josh won't be able to participate in the tour, but completely respect and applaud his commitment to the completion of his military duties," 19 Entertainment's Tom Ennis said in a statement. ...
Fallen "American Idol" contestant Corey Clark had two misdemeanor assault charges against him dismissed after pleading guilty to obstruction of legal process in court Wednesday. Six months unsupervised probation and the eternal question of whether he could have wiped the floor with Ruben Studdard is the price Clark had to pay for hitting his 15-year-old sister. ... |

Guarini Ticketed for Watercraft Violation
Justin Guarini was ticketed by Grand Prairie police after witnesses said he almost ran over a young girl with a personal watercraft at Joe Pool Lake, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. Guarini, 24, was the runner-up on Fox's "American Idol" last year. He was with winner Kelly Clarkson his co-star in the new film "From Justin to Kelly" and about five friends at the lake Saturday, when the incident allegedly occurred. Publicists representing Guarini and Clarkson couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday by The Associated Press. The citation was issued at Loyd Park on the lake's west side about 7 p.m. Saturday, said Sgt. Chris Chopin, lake patrol supervisor. He said Guarini and Clarkson "didn't understand what the laws were." Clint Heizer said Guarini ran the watercraft up on shore, stopping a few feet short of his 5-year-old daughter, Allison. "I was in Justin's face talking to him about what he had just done, and that's when I realized who he was," Heizer, a city marshal in North Richland Hills, told the newspaper in Tuesday's editions. Guarini rolled off the moving watercraft before it stopped and ran away laughing, Heizer said. If convicted of unsafe boat operation, Guarini faces a fine of up to $2,000 and a maximum 180 days in jail, according to a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Web site. |
Simon Says Yes to "Idol"
Mon Jul 7, 8:15 PM ET Add Entertainment - E! Online to My Yahoo! By Joal Ryan Beware American Idol hopefuls: Simon is coming back. :D The tart-tongued, T-shirted man in black has inked a new deal with Fox that will keep him slicing and dicing Idol contestants for the next three years, the network announced Monday. In a statement, Simon Cowell said he was "absolutely thrilled" with the pact. Of course, he was. In an apparent exchange for Cowell committing to Idol, Fox committed to Cowell, helping him set up a production company, simcow ltd. Under the agreement, Cowell's simcow will go to Fox first when it comes up with any bright ideas--like, say, Cupid, the new dating show not debuting Wednesday on Fox. (The show, and Simon's marketable mug, instead will be seen on CBS.) The Fox announcement seems timed to remind the TV nation that Cowell was its bad boy first. "Simon Cowell has a unique voice and point of view that obviously resonates all over America. That means we'll have to put up with him for years to come," Fox exec Sandy Grushow said in a tongue-in-cheek (we think) statement. Cowell, 43, is the first Idol judge to be formally seated for the new season, which launches in January. PLEASE NO MORE RANDY and PAULA Prior to Monday's announcement, the crafty Cowell played coy about his future with the singing competition. "I've got other things I want to do," he said in Monday's Los Angeles Times. "The show is a six-month commitment, and [coming back] will depend on whether we can make the right deal. Right now, it's up in the air." Before Idol, and its U.K. forerunner, Pop Idol, Cowell made money, but presumably scored fewer phone numbers, as a behind-the-scenes music exec. In an interview with the Times, Cowell said the best thing about the exposure afforded by the show is that network execs now take him seriously. "Within the next 48 months, I fully expect to have two or three shows on the air. Definitely," Cowell told the newspaper. For now, he has one: Cupid. The show takes a Bachelorette premise (one single gal in search of a single guy) and puts an Idol spin on it (viewers get to determine which single guy is the most suitable). Its Vanilla Coke-pitching executive producer appears onscreen briefly, but does not host--that duty is left to MTV's Brian McFayden. Minus Cowell, Fox's pint-sized Idol spinoff, American Juniors, is pulling down pint-sized numbers. Juniors is averaging 8.4 million viewers since its June 3 premiere. By comparison, Idol, which concluded its second season with May's Ruben Studdard-sized finale, averaged 21.8 million. While Juniors' kiddie singers have been spared Cowell's critiques, Pop Idol hopefuls have not been so lucky. Cowell has been jetting to Brittania this summer to continue his dark work on that show. "We've had some people in today who are on a par with the worst we saw in America," Cowell told TV's Extra in June. Stateside Idol wannabes can be cut down by Cowell in auditions later this summer. (No dates or locations announced yet for those cattle calls.) Idol premiered on Fox on June 11, 2002, en route to resurrecting nice-judge Paula Abdul (news)'s fame quotient, establishing cool-judge Randy Jackson's "Yo, dog" coolness and cementing nasty-judge Cowell's reputation for, um, bluntness. "Simon is honest, and he doesn't blow steam," first-season Idol champ Kelly Clarkson (news) recently told E! Online. "I hate people that blow steam." Cowell, meanwhile, is not the only Idol regular to parlay his prime-time fame into well-paid side gigs. Host Ryan Seacrest, currently doing Fox a solid by fronting American Juniors, is signed to star in his own daytime talk show, set to debut in January. |

American Idol 2 winner Ruben Studdard made his first million winning American Idol but he's getting ready to get his second million, by losing weight. Word is, Ruben is getting offers from various weight loss companies, including Jenny Craig, to lose weight. So far the highest offer for Ruben, who's up to about 350 pounds, is a million dollars. Although there is a catch: He gets 10,000 for every pound he loses-but only if he drops 100 pounds or more. A source close to Ruben says He's very interested, but I don't know if he can do it there's only one thing he likes more than money: A giant chili cheeseburger, the kind that's so sloppy, he spreads a newspaper on the kitchen floor and eats it naked.
  :o :D :( |

"American Idol" Dawg Slims Down Fri Jul 18, 1:15 PM ET By Lia Haberman Randy Jackson is faced with weighty decisions every week as a judge on Fox's talent search American Idol. Now the music industry vet is getting serious about his own heft, undergoing gastic bypass surgery in an attempt to shed some pounds before returning to work on the third Idol installment in January, reports Inside Edition. While Jackson wouldn't confirm the surgery, he did release a statement to E! News Live Friday saying, "I have taken serious steps to improve my health over the past few weeks, so I may appear lighter very soon. "I want to resume my Speedo modeling career." The Idol judge reportedly underwent a procedure called the Fobi Pouch last week at the Center for the Surgical Treatment of Obesity in Southern California. "The patients who undergo this kind of procedure are usually morbidly obese," surgeon Dr. Basil Felahy told Inside Edition. "By giving [the patient] a small pouch which is going to be his stomach from now on, the main stomach and bowel attached to it is bypassed." A onetime bass player with Journey in the 1980s, Jackson served as an A&R exec for Columbia Records and MCA Records before his Idol stint. He has also produced, recorded, toured and performed with such dawgs as Bob Dylan (news), Mariah Carey (news), Madonna (news - web sites), Elton John (news), Destiny's Child, 'N Sync (news - web sites) and Aretha Franklin (news). Last March, Jackson claimed to have already lost 20 pounds the natural way by cutting back on portions and working out several time a week, according to an interview in People magazine. So what do Idol's fellow experts think about a slimmer, trimmer Jackson? No reaction yet, but Simon Cowell will no doubt approve, judging by his recent comments to Us Weekly about next season's contestants. "I would like better-looking people this time. I don't want this to turn into American Ugly Idol," opined the acerbic Brit. |

Good for Randy!!!:) Ruben need to take note! |
Why should Ruben lose weight? or Randy? A person of size can be healthy. I think the media puts waaaay too much emphasis on how "skinny" you should be. That's why have young girls barfing over toilets now. Society does not acknowledge men/women of size as beautiful/attractive. I think it time to put an end to the madness and focus on a person's talent not just the way they look.
Sidebar: Clay can sing his azz off and he's thin as hell but he still looks like Howdy-Doody.... http://doc3/files jpeg |
