Joking! Congratulations to the new members!! :D |
Not sure if this is relevant for this year, but DePaul's total has been raised to 88 (up from 75).

I just saw a twitter post, with pictures, for a March 1, 2013 Bid Day for our Kappa Rho chapter which is at Kutztown University, PA. The chapter welcomed 20 new members. Wonderful pictures and great news. But on this thread, it says Kutztown has fall formal recruitment. The university website refers to fall recruitment. The chapter website refers to a Spring 2013 class. Maybe the school has two recruitment seasons?
Any time is welcome time when becoming a Greek sister. :) |
Chi Omega at Indiana State University welcomed 7 new members for Spring 2013!

A couple additions for the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign.
Kappa Delta and Alpha Delta Theta were both founded in 1923. In terms of defunct houses, if you want to add them:
|
One addition for Clemson-Pi Phi's blog says that SC Beta was closed in 1993.

Sigma Phi Beta absorbed by Phi Omega Pi 1933 BSO absorbed by ZTA, which already existed at UIUC LO merged with Theta Upsilon 1933 which merged with DZ 1962 DSE absorbed by DZ in 1956 Thanks, and I-L-L! |
"SIUC’s first national women’s fraternity was Delta Sigma Epsilon, a member of the Association of Education Sororities. Epsilon Beta became the Alpha Delta Chapter of Delta Sigma Epsilon on May 11, 1928. When Delta Sigma Epsilon and Delta Zeta merged, the chapter became a local, Nu Delta Sigma, until proper authorization was granted from Delta Zeta’s national organization. The group then became the Beta Eta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta."
Got this from the Focus on Fraternity History blog. |
Thanks but I meant their UIUC chapters. I wasn't clear about that. :)
We have a thread about defunct NPCs somewhere around here. I just don't have the UIUC chapter designation or closure dates. |
Sigma Phi Beta was Lambda chapter founded in 1929 & merged with the existing POP chapter.
Beta Sigma Omicron was Alpha Mu chapter founded in 1927 & died in 1941. Lambda Omega was Beta chapter founded in 1923 & merged with the existing TU chapter. Delta Sigma Epsilon was a colony & probably was never instituted as a chapter. All the above from Illini yearbooks. |
Thanks for posting oldu. Interesting!
This is the article that led me to believe DSE was a full fledged chapter: http://www.library.illinois.edu/Defa...artFrom=%31%30 What are your thoughts? A couple more things to add. Iota Alpha Pi closed in 1971 when their nationals closed, and Phi Omega Pi closed in 1946. Their nationals merged with DZ, so I assume UIUC did as well? I-N-I Irishpipes, and thanks for updating! Also, I was hoping to post some histories of the Illinois greek houses (actual structures) including photos. I have the photos saved to my computer, but can't figure out how to upload an attachment! It looks like that feature may be disabled for me. Any tips? |
You'll need to use photobucket or something like that to upload pics.
There are a few of us Illini on GC - nice to have you here! |
