But are they really saying that yesterday, someone "shot" at the servants of God and so God's getting back by shooting college students? WTF are they referring to? They said that the people shooting at the "servants of God" missed. Again, did something else happen at 7:00 AM EDT yesterday that they're trying to connect here? Or are they just more off their rockers than usual?

Thanks to GMA, I *think* I know what he is referring to and that is the attack on the Branch Davidian compound that happened this week back in 1993. DOn't quote me on this though but that's the only thing I could come up with.

GMA was showing a timeline of mass killings and unfortuantely, this week in April was very popular. :( (Branch Davidians / OKC bombing / Columbine/ and now VT).

Real Cute.

Wasn't that before/at the same time the VT shootings happened?

Just to let everyone know: a brother of LXA that posts regularly on here did get email confirmation that all brothers of LXA at the chapter at VT are safe and accounted for.

Thought and prayers go out to the VT campus.....

Have Cho's parents spoken up? I can't imagine what they are going through right now and I hope they have police protection.

Found out last night that my boyfriend and most of our friends went to highschool with him. I was able to find him in the yearbook, too. His family owns a business around here that I have been to several times, although I didn't know they owned it. Rumor has it that they'll be selling it and moving...but as its only been two days, I think thats more of an assumption than based on fact.

I'm just worried that someone would go after the parent's in their anger, do something to their business, or them...I hope that isn't true. I don't believe in "tit for tat" - while they raised him, they are not their son.

I just got this through a listserve and wanted to share with everyone. Please support us all in wearing maroon and orange on friday as well as wearing an orange ribbon to remember those who were lost on monday.

Hokie Hope / Hokie Nation

Hello all:

The Virginia Tech alumni are holding a Maroon and Orange Effect Day this Friday, April 20. We are asking everyone to wear our school colors in honor of the victims of Monday's shootings, and to show that hope can prevail after this tragedy. We hope that on Friday, the United States truly will become Hokie Nation.

In addition, the students have also started an Orange Ribbon campaign to honor those who have fallen. To join this campaign, all you have to do is make and wear an orange ribbon. Facebook groups have been started for both of these events.

Lastly, Virginia Tech has started the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund in support of those affected by this tragedy. Donations are accepted online or via mail. http://www.vt.edu/tragedy/memorial_fund.php

Please join us.

That's an interesting way for your school to handle something like this. So many people change numbers so often, or don't use text messages, that I'm not sure how effective it might be in the long run though.

we have a similar system that was just implemented, and a big long email about emergency preparedness just went out from the president:

In the event such a catastrophe befell the W____ community, we would provide multiple sources of information: via the Internet, voicemail, email, and personal communication. In addition to posting emergency messages on the University website and broadcasting these messages to the campus community via email and voicemail, we would contact students on their personal telephones and cell phones, using a new remote system that would enable us to reach them even if all campus systems were
inoperable. We also would work through the Residential Life staff to get the word out in person.

No, that threat in Austin happened yesterday around midday, if I recall correctly.

Florida State has done the same thing. We're holding a vigil tonight in the green, and all the FSU Kappas are wearing our badges in memory of Caitlin.

My school already asked everyone to enter their cell phone numbers, so that they can text us in case there is an emergency like that. There is also a condolence message from the president.

My husband had him when he was at VT. :(

I was just reading about this in today's USA Today - a number of campuses have gone to this type of system. the article made the point that cellphones are so 'connected' to our person, that it's a quick way to get the information to those who've signed up for this program. While more and more campuses become centers of constant connect (via email and having computers in class with the students), the cell phone seems to be a better way to go. I've taken my computer with to class for graduate school, but for the times I can't get into my email, I believe that I would definitely get the message on my cell phone a lot quicker.

Every one has a better idea and if you were not there and have been in Law Enforcement then you do not really do not know what it was like!

It was a sad thing that happened and the Police or the college could not do anything about it!

Look at the statistics!

Get real and see the real life of events of what happened and what was involved!

Never rush to judgements if you do not mind!

A statement from NBC News: "NBC received a communication from Cho Seung-Hui, the man identified by police as the Virginia Tech shooter, via the US Mail this morning and immediately turned it over to the authorities. The package included images, videos and writings, and appears to have been mailed between the two shootings. We are cooperating fully with the authorities."

That young man is alive and through the luck of the draw, he was an Eagle Scout who knew how to stop the blood flow as he got hit in the main artery. He may or may not have lost his leg but he did survive. I eagerly await his release and statement to the press. That kid is amazing. Can any fraternity claim him?

How this could happen is terrible! Makes me realize we all need to reach out to each other and be of support even if its just saying hello.
