I've been saying that very thing since Clinton's tantrums in my home state, but Krauthammer said it much better than I. Thanks for the link.

I agree, honey, that article was fab.

Although I have the feeling that if (God forbid) Hillary got elected, she'd do whatever she wants to do and tell Bill to go polish the silver. This is what she's always wanted and she married him because she felt he could help her get there. But once she's there - he's done.

Elizabeth & Bob Dole, that would be a different story.

Someday, we need to chat a bit about the Doles! Mojitos?

A joke too bad to print?

A friend sent me an email about a joke that John McCain made back in 1998 that I had never heard before. Since I always take email forwards with a grain of salt, I decided to do some Googling and discovered it was true. It certainly makes me question his judgement and character, even though the joke was made 10 years ago. I found this Salon article with the joke:

A joke too bad to print?
HOW SEN. JOHN McCAIN'S TASTELESS TWO-LINER ABOUT CHELSEA CLINTON AND JANET RENO WAS CENSORED OUT OF THE NATION'S LEADING NEWSPAPERS.

Insane. That joke is even worse than Shuster's pimping comment, imo. I have now found a couple of instances where I don't get McCain's humor. Peppy, you bring this article to light, and just last night, McCain was talking to Dana Bash from CNN in a story for the "Situation Room" and called her a jerk (with a smile on his face, of course). But still. It just doesn't seem right.

skylark 02-13-2008 01:12 PM

I think that McCain's comment was worse, actually. Pimping, taken literally, might be a bad thing to imply, but I've generally heard the word "pimping" used in everyday conversation to mean something to the effect of "sending someone out to do work for you." McCain's comment was mean spirited, reminiscent of a 3rd grade bully, and completely insensitive towards the gender expectations that both straight and lesbian women have to deal with on a regular basis.

Also, while Shuster's comment was inappropriate as well, his name's not going to be on the ballot this fall.

ETA: Just realized the link is from a comment made 10 years ago (I know, I should RIF). While I'm still a little put off, lord knows in a span of any given 10 years most of us have said things we wish we hadn't.

You know, I agree with you. I reread my post to figure out where your comment was coming from... I said that McCain's comment paled in comparison, when I meant to say that Shuster's comment was pale in comparison to McCain's. I'm gonna fix it pronto.

Really? Care to post some other examples?

shinerbock 02-13-2008 02:18 PM

McCain is a bitter egomaniac. Then again, I don't vote based on jokes and attitude.

nittanyalum 02-13-2008 02:58 PM

In the "jokes and attitude" vein, here are some HI-larious jokes about Huckabee's scary attitudes... http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/in...e=man-of-faith

Sig...you really don't need for me to do that...they are out there and it wouldn't take but 10 mins for anyone to pull them up with links and post.

If you are curious, start with China.

LOL, I almost posted that one too but didn't want the one about Huckabee's views too overshadowed by your awesomeness, Chuck.

And man, I knew you were cool, but Chuck, you drove OUT OF YOUR OWN GRAVE???!!?! That's beyond cool.
