Oh I fully understand that. Your response just made me feel that you were under the impression I was biast to a sorority. all I am saying is most girls going through this year do not have the new sorority as their #1 choice.

Now THAT was rude.

Well since yall did not understand what I was talking about. I'm not being rude just stating a true fact.

My dear, we knew exactly what you were talking about...that's the problem! And you aren't "biast". You are "biased." With poor grammar like that on the Internet, you won't have to worry about too many options.

(still clutchin' my mama's pearls!)

Heck, even I knew what she was talking about.

HTPNM: Facts are inherently true, so the adjective is unneeded. Moreover, unless you know and have canvassed each of the 1000+ PNMs (and registration has not closed), your allegation is mere hearsay based on a statistically flawed sample. It does not meet the definition of "fact". Despite your protests to the contrary, you seem to be heavily influenced by gossip.

Okay. I am very sorry I've now upset everyone by a simple statement. This is obviously not the best place for me to ask any questions

Relax. Chill out. Don't flounce. No one was rude to you. Everyone is just telling it like it is. Just make sure you're open to ALL groups. There isn't a bad one in the bunch. And PLEASE, whatever you do, DON'T listen to what other people are saying about how "most PNMs feel" or how "every chapter already has their bid lists made" or anything else like that. They're rumors. And even if none of the other PNMs want to be in the newest sorority on campus, that doesn't mean it wouldn't be a good fit for you. Don't worry about what everyone else is doing. Follow your own path. Otherwise, you might end up extremely disappointed, either because you have no bid, or because you have a bid to a group that was considered the "popular chapter", but doesn't fit your style and personality.

Don't get caught up in made-up statistics and talk of the "best" chapters. Try to block all of that stuff out. At this point, all you can do is get your outfits together, build conversation skills, go through recruitment and be yourself, and hopefully everything will fall into place. Worrying about anything else won't help you.

Good luck!

Hello everyone! I googled "ole miss rush help" and this site popped up. What better place to search for advice that the women who have experience it themselves!? I am coming into ole miss in the fall and obviously I'm planning on going through recruitment! Lol. I've gotten all of my recs done, but I've recently been told that most sororities are now looking for at least two! I don't have anyone else to write some of the recs for me! What do I do?

I suggest you read this entire thread start to finish. When you are done, read last years Ole Miss thread. I am entirely certain there are many many suggestions that can help you find recs and then some.

olemisspnm 07-11-2014 04:01 PM

Okay I did. Do I absolutely have to have two? Even for ADPi since it is new and there aren't many alumni in the area? Are they going to cut me if I don't have two? I thought that one was the requirement.

All it takes is one good rec to receive a bid, but the more alumnae who are willing to vouch for you and write recommendations for you the better, especially if those ladies are Ole Miss alumni!

olemisspnm 07-11-2014 04:29 PM

I have several for most of them. I'm just missing more than one from sororities that aren't big in my hometown and then ADPi because they are new. I just don't want to get cut from somewhere because of my lack of a second rec.

pinksequins 07-11-2014 04:44 PM

OleMissPNM -- do your first rec writers know sisters who could write a second one or provide leads?

Do your research. ADPi is re-establishing their Ole Miss chapter. There are PLENTY of ADPi alumnae in Mississippi.

If you got one rec for every chapter on campus, go back to the women who have already submitted recommendation letters or forms for you. They have sorority sisters!! Voila... problem solved.
