Since you brought up U Penn, I'll mention that it's not state related at all - kind of the same deal, I believe, as USC (a private school that just happens to have the state's name in its name).

Exactly. I am a huge advocate of the PA state school system; they are governed really well. I am a graduate of one and attended two. In PA., these schools are very popular and known for offering a great education that's affordable.

BBC world news has now covered this. Link can be found here.

Well said, rhoyaltempest. I'd just add that Penn State, while not inexpensive, is -- on paper at least -- much lower-cost than Penn. Actual costs for an individual / family of course may vary wildly depending on scholarships, Pell grants, and so on.

Somewhat off topic, but there was an article recently stating that PSU is the most expensive of any state related school: http://www.usnews.com/education/best...state-students The article I read was based on this.

I was there with my sisters. We all cried at both 'Imagine' and 'Fix You'. It was so emotional. It was a moment I will never forget.

The link to donate is here, in the past few minutes alone about $3,000 was donated. I know it isn't much but I think slowly we are starting to realize who the real victims are in this and we want to do what we can. I will also be at the candlelight vigil on Friday with my sisters. This is such a difficult time right now and I know we are certainly not handling it all with grace, but I know my friends and people that I've spoken with want to do the right thing.

In just a few short days, nearly $340,000 has been donated! :)

If any of you are still conflicted about your feelings on this scandal, I suggest you oread the official indictment of Jerry Sandusky. You can find it online, it's about 23 pages long. Warning though: It will rock you off of your foundation. The most vile, heart breaking thing that I have ever read. If you are like me, you will not be able to read it all without breaking down.

I fear that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I had the misfortune of reading it when we first started talking about this situation. It reads like what I could imagine child porn stories might sound like. It's so surreal, it's like reading a movie script, because it's hard for my brain to accept that it happened to real people.

It's one of the worst things I've ever read.

From a personal level, the horrificness is compounded by the fact that I have a nephew who's right in Sandusky's alleged target demographic. My sister, who's been really good about having these kinds of talks with her kids, reminded my nephew again that he could tell her anything. He was like, "you mean the Penn State thing? Mommy, let's not mince words. I'm not letting anyone touch me."
