My thoughts:

Now we know that Ben won't remember his shooting or the survivors saving him, so will he remember Sawyer, Kate, and company later on?

I knew they were going to the smoke monster....we know the Smoke monster changes behavior just like it did for the French men.

The Other's comment to Richard about "You should ask Ellie, and if Charles finds out..." This is leads me to a few questions about the timeline.....

If Ellie and Charles are still on the island during the 70s...what happened to Penny and David?

When Locke saw Goodspeed in the forest he said he had been dead 13 years (I think)?

That would mean that Ben would already have his daughter because she was 17....

I loved the end with Locke.....muhahahaha

This also implies that Charles was in a position of power. I wonder why he was exiled. It's clear he didn't choose to leave because he's been searching for the island for years.

When we last saw Charles at Locke's beside he said that he had been exiled because he was fooled by Ben, just the way Locke had been...

Do you all remember, in the episode where Desmond wants to buy an engagement ring for Penny, when Elouise first talked about course-correcting? It became important later on when Desmond was telling Charlie that, no matter what Des did to prevent it, the universe would course-correct itself to ensure that Charlie was going to die.

Anyway, if Elouise was right about the course-correction bit, then how can Faraday be right about "whatever happened, happened?" Those two concepts seem contradictory. What am I not getting here?

IlovemyAKA 04-08-2009 11:40 AM

I don't think they're contradictory. The Losties are still doing whatever they did before to ensure that the future remains intact. It sounds like course-correction to me. For example, Ben still survives even though Jack chose not to help him.

I would agree with you, IlovemyAKA (if I understand you correctly, SydneyK). "Course-correcting" and "Whatever happened, happened" sounds like the same thing. Basically, no matter what you try to do, everything is already set to happen a certain way and there's nothing anyone can do to change it.

Desmond kicks ass!!!! Yeaaaaaa!

You're right. I think I was interpreting "whatever happened, happened" as "whatever was supposed to happen, happened."

So, after last night's episode, I'm wondering whether all these (so-called) dead people (Christian, Alex, Locke) are just manifestations of smokey. I do find it interesting that last night's epi was titled "Dead is Dead", but that doesn't appear to be the case. Makes me wonder if "Whatever Happened Happened" is equally misleading.

I'm loving this show!!

Oh, and I totally agree with SWTXBelle and twinkle555 - Des kicks ass, and the marina scene made my tummy hurt!

I disagree about the manifestations to a degree....sure some are projected by the island...I think Christian is a project for Jacob...or maybe he really is Jacob.....

I don't think Locke is a manifestation, I think he is really alive, because the look in Ben's eyes was amazement...

I actually think that now that the island has brought Locke back that he won't age....I think that is what happened to Richard...

I have some thoughts about the smoke monster.....Last night's verified my theory about an Egyptian presence (I thought this when we saw the back of the statue)...Which means the island is thousands of years old....

/Start of History Teacher Rant/

The picture on the wall that Ben looked at before the smoke monster came out of the holes was one of the Egyptian god Anubis. Anubis was one of the guardians of the underworld. It was Anubis that holds the scale that weighs a man's heart after death, thus judging him. While the Book of Death (The main Primary Source we have of Ancient Egyptian burial practices), makes no reference of a "smoke monster", I thought it was an interesting mix of ancient belief with Ben's need for a judgment.

/End of History Teacher Rant/

I was very intrigued by the new Hispanic girl (I don't remember her name)'s question to the pilot regarding the statue....It made me think that we have a new group of Others....

I hadn't thought about a new group of Others. When Ilana asked, "What lies in the shadow of the statue?", I thought she might be part of a new Widmore team.

Regarding the Egyptian theme, they've been giving us Egyptian hints all along (the first one I remember was when the clock in the hatch reached zero, and the numbers were then replaced with hieroglyphs). One of the most recent Egyptian references was the ankh necklace Amy kept from her first husband, Paul. The statue appears to be holding an ankh in each hand. This post from the fuselage is really interesting: http://forum.thefuselage.com/showpos...&postcount=117

It's a great theory of what the statue might be (complete with screencaps!).

My friends and I thought that was some sort of challenge question to see if he was part of the group.

"What lies in the shadow of the statue?" sounds like a riddle to me. I really dont like Ilana, maybe because she played a really slutty slave who killed a pregnant girl on the HBO show 'Rome'.

That's what she's from!!! :mad::mad::mad:

Thetagirl218 04-15-2009 11:01 PM

So the "What lies in the shadow of the Statue" people have nothing to do with Whitmore.....Something is telling me they are different than Ben though...

I felt like they gave a few too many things away tonight....most were things we had already figured out...Miles being the baby we saw at the start of the season, and the fact that the hatch was the secret thing being built...

I still think the hatch is harnessing the energy of the bomb they had the 50s.

I am so confused by Farday.....at the start of the season, we say a flash forward with him being a worker he was looking over people's shoulders while building the orchid. He looked like he was doing the hard labor in that scene, but that doesn't make sense since he is some referred scientist.

Oh and yet another week of Egyptian symbolism... there was a lesson on Egyptian history on the board that Jack was cleaning and the title of the episode was "Some like it Hoth". Of course they had us think it had to do with Star Wars, but Hoth is also the Egyptian god of scribes....
