I'm glad cheese is dead and now that Kenard is in juve, the streets are safe.

Once you had the kids on the show last season, did you have trouble realizing that you were going to weave them into some pretty awful fates down the road?
No, we knew they were going there. Let me just say this: We're not being manipulative in any cynical way about marching those characters towards tragedy. If you read "The Cornerhttp://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=s...1&a=0767900316" [the book Simon wrote with Ed Burns], of the kids that we followed, two are alive, two were shot to death as teenagers, and another is in prison. We looked at what happened to the kids that we followed when they were 14 or 15, and looked at what had happened to them by the time they were 17 or 18, and "The Wire's" story reflects the odds.

Did y'all get the impression that Sydnor was supposed to be the "new" McNulty? I know that was the same judge that McNulty would always go to in the first season, but I felt like Sydnor was giving me "Freamon."

I can understand why he would take that route after all the work he did. In the end everything that the police and higher ups said they wouldn't do, they did anyway so that people could keep their jobs and Carcetti and Narese could move up the ladder.

Sydnor is now the ultimate warrior. He will serve as both McNulty and Freamon in a one man war against crime. No more juking the stats for him! LOL

You know, the more I read David Simon's own words, the more it seems that he's just another self-righteous and arrogant white Liberal.

Very true. I grew up with a Dukie, Mike, Namond, and Randy.:( If this story had ended any other way would not seem realistic.

Well he couldn't possibly know the odds of kids making it out of these situations unless he lived or worked (community involvement) areas similiar to The Wire or The Corner ( another good movie). It kills me bit to see how much people assume after researching one group of people in one given area and then generalize things to make seem that this is what happens across the board.

So...uh...that was it?

I think I was telling someone that Mike was like Omar.

unspokenone25 03-10-2008 10:09 AM

i know i haven't posted all season but oh well...

i was like whoa...mike is now the new omar. he even got it down to the catch phrase. that is something that surprised me but didn't surprise me about his character.

i still would like to know what exactly marlo stansfield is going to do with himself now. return to the game or go corporate?

BLUPERFECTION03 03-10-2008 10:34 AM

Marlo is gonna end up dead if the series were to continue, did you guys notice that Marlo was picking up where Stringer Bell left off with the whole real estate development thing...except Omar and Brother Muzone are not there to take him out! The only difference Marlo doens't wanna break outta his comfort zone with the drug cycle. I believe with everyone on Mike being the new stickup guy but not the new Omar, Omar had a code and he never shot old folks! I'm so happy cheese is gone...runs his mouth way too much, dumb and sloppy. With Slim stepping in for Marlo I think the game would run more efficiently now because Slim is a loyal and percise person. It was funny to here people still talk about Omar and how they think he died. Everyone got off pretty light with the whole Homeless murder fiasco...I was so hoping something was gonna happen to Templeton. But folks like him, Carcetti and Narese always land on their feet. Dookie I wasn't surprised in the least that he turned into a junkie...Mr. Presbo knew he was lying about being enrolled in the GED program but still gave him the money...oh well!! Chris and Weebay in jail together looks like the Barksdale legacy may resurface, with Chris doing his usual job as being Mr. #2 and the muscle.

I went to high school with someone named Marlo... a FEMALE

Senusret I 03-11-2008 10:05 AM

Well that makes more sense -- Marlo Thomas from TV and stuff. But Marlo for a boy?

kissy324 03-11-2008 10:09 AM

Like everyone else, I was also sad to see Dukie as a junkie.

But on a good note... Bub's sister finally allowed him upstairs for dinner. :)

I am so sad The Wire is over. I have no use for HBO anymore

I always thought of Marlo as a boy's name. Maybe it's because I am thinking of the rules of Spanish... Names/words ending is "o" are usually in reference to males, and those ending in "a" are in reference to females. Therefore, Marlo=male name
Marla=female name

I know... I'm analyzing too much.

Yeah, I liked the Bubs part.

I also have no use for HBO anymore, until Big Love comes back on.
