Ladies, it is a sad day on the Chi Omega board. Our dear newcomer, NutBrnHair, bastion of Chi Omega knowledge, may have messed up her facts...BUT, I will trust that our dear sister simply made a typo in the D answer.

From chiomega.com

"Founded in 1982, the Chi Omega Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by law."

;) :D

::::::laughing::::::

I'm busted! Yikes, okay -- that will teach me to ask questions without double-checking!

I believe what happened was that in 1978, National organized the charitable scholarships (like the MLC for graduate study, etc.) into a group...that was actually the forerunner of the "Foundation."

More than you wanted to know?! :)

Way to go, Kathy -- good answer! Okay, I need a break! Someone else ask.

Heehee! Nutbrwn, you're allowed this mistake...after all, I don't think I have EVER met anyone who knows so many XO facts!!

Nor have I! :) I also should point out, just now as I was trying to find another question to ask (to give NutBrn a break!) I saw this on the timeline on the website:

"1977
Chi Omega Foundation established"

See, you DO know what you are talking about. The questions needed the word 'established' or 'founded' to make it not a trick question! ;)

OK, this is probably an easy one...
Where was the first alumnae chapter?
A. Lexington, KY
B. Memphis, TN
C. Fayetteville, AR
D. Dallas, TX

XOAlumXO 11-20-2003 02:11 AM

I am guessing "D." It's been awhile since I read our handbooks they handed out our pledge semester, so don't be suprised if my guess is off.....

NutBrnHair 11-20-2003 05:50 AM

Oh heck, I'll pick "C."
:)

I know this because she sent me a letter after I bought and turned in a badge from ebay!

Correct, xo_kathy! Jan is one cool lady! She has volunteered thousands of hours.

OK, Kathy...ask another question.

Let's Learn About MLC

Which of the following statements about Mary Love Collins is correct:

a.) She smoked cigarettes with a long, slender cigarette holder
b.) She moved the mailbox at her house on Weebetook Ln. to the corner that touched Grandin Rd., since it was a more prestigious address for the Chi Omega HQ
c.) She was afraid of airplanes and refused to fly
d.) All of the above

CardinalSM 11-25-2003 10:16 PM

OK so I am going to be the weirdo who says all of the above because that has never been an option before! This is what I do in accounting class and it works most of the time :)
