And please don't use profanity.

Oh please.

Hey, now that you're responding to me, would you care to explain why you were offering information about junior league membership even though you're not a member over in chit chat?

AlphaFrog 10-05-2006 01:45 PM

Since when can we not say BAT****??

HERE

If I have edit another post regarding profanity of any sort, I will close down the thread. I warned everyone at the beginning of this topic to keep civil and keep it impersonal. It is becoming personal and vulgar and Carnation and I will not tolerate that. If you can't make you point politely and w/o vulgarity, don't post.

And while we are on the subject, it is not necessary to tell an author that their posts are being reported. This isn't preschool.

valkyrie, I believe that she was a "provisional member" (i.e. pledge in sorority language) but did not become an active member (i.e. the equivalent of being "initiated" in Junior League Land).

How about we just call a spade a spade and close down the forum?

I know, I know...I just thought that if it gets repeated enough, it might sink in.

My apologies, I stand corrected on the KD AI.

Sorry, I didn't have my crystal ball handy. I'll try to have it the next time I read her posts so I know what "IT" she is referring to! :D

Blueangel, you're the ONLY NPC member posting that I've seen who wants the AI forum to stay.

And before the "harassment" you refer to, Mburden/Scandia et al were asked the same questions they would be asked IRL about their desire to pursue AI. They did not have good answers- in fact, many people here posted their reasons were NOT what their organization looked for in an AI. Unless there is some NPC organization that has an AI program explicitly for people who didn't get the chance in undergrads WITH NO OTHER LINK to that organization or OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT, they were not good fits for any of the 26 NPC organizations. I think almost anyone could see that.

John is reviewing the situation and is listening to many concerned parties in the matter. The final decision is up to him, not me or Carnation.

Yeah.. I'm the only one posting at present... and that means...?

Has it occured to you that maybe people don't want to post on this subject because every time they do, the personal attacks begin?

I'm not generally in this "vocal minority" yet I want the forum gone. This forum undermines the membership selection process, which is ritual. Also, this forum cheapens the women that have truly EARNED their Alumna Initiation.

kdonline 10-05-2006 03:29 PM

For the record, I'd like the AI forum to stay.

...on the condition that these people are told BY THE MODS or in PM to contact the sorority directly. Then the thread is closed. End of Story.

But I know that some oh-so-helpful GCers will turn any seemingly innocent question into a knock-down. This should not happen.

So, quick moderation (meaning, delete any posts in reply to the original poster and then a thread lock) will get the message across this Alumnae Initiation is not discussed on greekchat.

A thread would have 2-3 msgs, max. One from the original poster, then the Mod one saying "go private" and then the original poster saying "kthx - see you in a PM!" Then LOCKED.

There are 2 experienced mods to this forum, and both are online quite often. Why can't this be done?

That way, we all can be happy.

I agree.

I definitely agree, I would still like to hear the experiences of successful AIs and generic stuff about AI but if it's between that and seeing the forum remain the same...well I'd rather just not have the forum.

ETA: if it's come down to PRO and CON with no middle ground, then I con the AI forum.

A very good solution.
