*yawn*

Look, either come up with some so-called proof about my so-called alter ego or slag off. Seeing that I've had the sane username since I was 17, I think you'll be hard pressed. But surprise me.

No one ever said alter ego until you mentioned it.
Let the guilty speak.

Interesting.

Good Lord, the stupid is breeding at the speed of light!

Question. Why is anyone here so important that I would have to...wait, what am I being accused of again?

However, there are ways to go about things. Casuing controversity has a tendancy to not help the cause (whatever the cause may be). It's all about Postive PR! Like the story about the little girl who did the study on bacteria in ice vs. toilet water. I think that little girl showed how intelligent she was, and it was awesome PR to show that black children can achieve as well (OR better - that girl really impressed me) as white children.

Actually causing what you are referring to as "controversy" is the ONLY way to help OUR cause. (BTW, it kills me that someone on the outside is trying to tell US how to solve OUR problem  ) I am sure that folks like you thought that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and my personal favorite Malcolm X were "causing controversy". But you can see how far the civil rights movement got us. See black people getting arrested for protesting was not "positive pr". But it got us results. Speaking out (what the likes of you would likely call "militancy") is the ONLY start to bring abour CHANGE between the races. Change is what is needed, not some melting pot "bringing together of the races" crap that some of y'all are promoting. We don't need to be "brought together" with white people.

rattlerbrat 03-16-2006 04:40 PM

Well gee, I thought the whole point of the movement was to be accepted by the mainstream so we could bask in the warm rays of the white man's tender love...

I agree with you...I am also tired of the "melting pot" crap...that term implies losing one's identity, I like my identity and would like to keep it, but that doesn't mean I can't co-exists with others and accept others as they are....

also except the TRUTH about history, acknowledge it ....sweeping it under the rug can lead to repeats

SKEEphistAKAte, this is an incredibly important distinction. I am always considering what multiculturalism is and what it should be for my sorority. I've never considered it to be running through the daisies licking lollipops. It's an action of understanding.

But, the standing definition (as it appears to me) is that set forth by...the majority...and it is a melting pot. The mission is to quiet everyone down and live in some sort of feigned tolerance in which no one is truly satisfied but the majority. It is also to squelch discussion such as the one in this thread.

I'm in full agreement with you. Change is needed, not this "can't we all get along" nonsense. But if adequate change ever does take place, perhaps we WILL "get along," although same-mindedness will never be requisite.
