I just received a forwarded email from Suzanne Spicer with some Convention News:

Greetings to all...

Great news---Alpha Gamma Delta has received approval from the city of Chicago to have street banners on selected blocks of Michigan Avenue and Ohio Street from July 15-23! The banners will be sold and mailed following Convention...limited quantity [35]. Once the cost is determined, a flyer will be placed in the Confirmation Packets and information will be placed on the website as well.

Can't you just hear our members when they see these banners? Exciting!

WOW! What an honor from the City of Chicago! I remember arriving in Atlanta in 2001 and seeing the banners of ADPi around Downtown Atlanta because they were celebrating their 150th. Hopefully my chapter will be able to purchase a banner to hang proudly here!

I ordered 4 dresses. They were delivered on the 24th to the wrong house (again!!). Didn't know that so I re-ordered.
Found the 1st bag. Will return 3 of the dresses cause they don't fit and/or the material is crappy.

Then when the new order comes in, I'll return it, lol.
Think I'll stop ordering on the web, lol.

YAY!!!! NINA'S GOING!!!

Don't know what I'm going to do about my arrival just yet. The other Delta Sigmas get in at the same time (5:15 AM)at Midway, and their ride offered to pick me up, but part of me wants to catch that shuttle to the hotel and just crash on Dee's floor until it's time for us to check in (even though I'll probably be sleeping during the nonstop flight from Honolulu).

I'm so afraid of getting lost by myself at O'Hare, my luggage not getting there, not being able to claim my luggage, getting LOST!...I don't think I've ever been to an airport that busy before.

I have two black cocktail dresses that I'm going to wear for Foundation Gala and Feast of Roses. I'm still in search for the perfect white muumuu.

To all Alpha Gam ladies on GC:

Yea! Got my package!!

Freaked out a little when I saw the Airport Express flyer "Save over $30 with a round-trip ticket". I thought gee....how much it is!!

Here's from the website:

How much does it cost from/to Midway airport?

For one passenger traveling one-way the cost is $16.00. For round trip the cost is $30.00.
For two passengers (pair fare), the cost one-way is $12.00 per person or $22.00 per person for round trip tickets.
For three or more passengers, the group rate is applied and the cost is $10.00 per person one-way or $18.00 per person round trip.

How much does it cost from/to O'Hare?
For one passenger traveling one-way the cost is $21.00. For roundtrip the cost is $39.00. For two passengers (pair fare), the cost one-way is $16.00 per person or $30.00 per person for roundtrip tickets.
For three or more passengers, the group rate is applied and the cost is $12.00 per person one-way or $23.00 per person roundtrip.

The subway at first sounded better until I read how many changes and how much walking was involved;)

They accept major credit cards or you can pay the Driver cash.

If Kelly can't pick me up, I'll be purchasing a roundtrip ticket to and from O'Hare. There was NWIH I was even thinking about taking the subway, especially since I'm arriving on my own!

Lynn--the train is very easy and very cheap--$2 each way. I take the train into the city everytime I go to Chicago. I am taking the train--if anyone is arriving at Midway on Saturday around 8am (i believe) you are more than welcome to take the train in with me.

Thanks, Wendi! Normally I don't mind the train (MARTA here in Atl)..it's just that I am so klutzy anyway, I'm not looking forward to the hassles with luggage.

That time of Sat., I'll either just be leaving the house or standing in line at the Atl airport, lol.

I'll think about it, lol. I'm sure there will be AGDs taking either way.!:D

Actually you take the Orange line in and go around "the Loop" to State and Lake. Get off and look for the steps going down to the Red line, use the same metro card (only .30 more) and go up to the stop on Grand. OR once you get off the Orange line at State and Lake, go down to the street, hail a cab and ask for the Marriott on Grand off of Michigan. Cab ride is $5 tops. :D

My package arrived today!!!!! :D :D

greeklawgirl 06-04-2004 05:00 PM

So work is extremely slow today, and I was thinking about our free afternoon and evening. If we all want to go out together that evening for dinner and a night on the town, we're going to be a LARGE group.

Wherever we go to eat will have to be able to accomodate everybody, be relatively cheap, and (I'd like to go) somewhere that is traditionally Chicago. Anyone have ideas?

I was thinking about Pizzeria Uno or one of the restaurants in Greektown. All those places look relatively near the hotel. There's also tons of great steakhouses, but that will be more expensive and may not suit everyone's tastes.

What do you all think?
