I dig the navy lace, but without the belt.

If I can find a picture of the dress I wore online I'll post it. I thought it looked good. |
I, as a PNM, has constantly been told that the about 75% Bid List are predetermined. I have also heard that alumni make the final decision about who actually gets bids on bid day. I have a pretty good resume, good GPA and ACT, and I live within about an hour of campus. I know just a few girls in every sorority, but I'm not overly close with any of them. I have no preferences as my mother nor grandmother were not in sororities. I am just wondering if my chances are shot at a good sorority because I did not attend spring parties, but many other girls my age did.

The best advice you will receive about recruitment is to dramatically change your way of thinking. It is an honor to get a bid to any of them, and if you go into recruitment only thinking that certain ones are good enough for you then the chances of you winding up not Greek increase exponentially. |
^^^ TRUTH.

The sororities can't have their bid list already made because they have no idea if you, or Patty PNM, or Suzy Sororitywannabe, etc., will come back to their next round of parties, much less to one of their pref. parties.
It would be a good idea to NOT listen to rumors or tent talk. Give all the sororities a chance, and try to determine which sorority would be the best fit for you as you are now, not as someone you one day hope to be. |
Also, while ABC, DEF, and GHI might all want Super Suzy after pref, she's only getting one bid. When she matches, the other groups have to adjust.

thank you all so much. my mind is very open; I do understand that a bid is an honor from any place, but the rudeness is not needed. I wasn't particularly pointing out any sorority at all.

No one was rude to you. |
You're the one who stated "a good sorority." All we're telling is that they are ALL good sororities. We will not bash any group here at Greek Chat. If you are looking for that, you need to go elsewhere. We are a Panhellenic group and we treat our Panhellenic sisters with respect.

Hottytoddypnm14, being the new sorority is not equivalent to not being "good". Far from it.
It seems that you are buying into the #1 tent talk. The more that you succumb to that and other gossip, the bumpier your own recruitment may be. Now, back to the new group. Every colonizing NPC group now goes to extraordinary lengths to choose selectively for a colony and ensure a wonderful program, competitive size and quality. These new women are really cute. Their international is extremely strong, particularly in the South. Check out its chapters at UGA, Clemson, UNC, USC, NCSU. Dynamite group, and its colonies have a reputation of growing and succeeding quickly. A lot of women like colonies because of the opportunity to develop the traditions (while enjoying the security of national support and financing). I love the look of this new group -- fun and cute --- and anticipate that they will be a strong addition to campus. Another group colonizes next year, and there are plans to add three more new groups thereafter. In short, if you let the tent talk influence you -- and your posts suggest that it indeed matters to you -- you may find yourself making suboptimal decisions. I am not an alumna of the new sorority -- it in fact was our big rival --- but it was a rival because it was so darn good. |
