Black Friday.

Most people saying it have no idea what it even means. Plus I think Steely Dan should get royalties for its overuse, and they're not.

Steely Dan didn't come up with the term either -- it goes back at least to 1869. At least according to the Wiki, it was the Philadelphia Police who first used the term to refer to the day after Thanksgiving (at least as early as 1966, so before Steely Dan), and they didn't mean it as a compliment.

I'm quite aware of that. I was being facetious.

I am over here wheezing like I need an inhaler. All breath GONE. GC doesn't have a smilie big enough for this.

Sorry. My facetious meter is acting up today.

I don't know if this has been said but a phrase used a LOT by some people I follow on twitter (and will probably stop because its driving me insane) is "Sorry I'm not sorry".

I HATE "needless to say". If something is needless to say, then don't say it.

This is more of a cyber thing, but I hate it when I make a comment about something that's based on my opinion, and then someone goes "you do know.......right?" -and on top of that, they already know the answer to their own stupid question.

You do know that if this ^^ and other snarky commentary were prohibited, GC would be empty of traffic in like, 5 minutes. You do know this...right? :)

I've recently noticed several tv commercials using "funnest" or "funner." This annoys me no end.

christiangirl 11-19-2011 10:13 PM

"More better." That is NEVER okay. Not even as a joke. I've only heard it used as a joke one time when it was actually funny and it was about 15 years ago.

Also, things that have proper names but are given totally improper names instead. See "wife beater" and "pimp hand."

What is the proper name for pimp hand? Lol

christiangirl 11-20-2011 01:16 AM

^^"Backhand."

And there's a big difference between "mo' betta" in slang and "More better" in an educational setting!
