the first twenty years
Quote:
the May 1922 installation of the Pi chapter, Penn State, TKE had sixteen chapters. Picky, picky, picky, YITB, Erik Conard-Denver |
Ahh Erik I missed yah. Then officially TKE's 100th year would have been this past Jan 10th ehh?
|
TKE's 100th
you make a good point, but the centennial had to do with the
founding of the fraternity, and it is noted that Tau Kappa Epsilon was founded as The Knights of Classic Lore. However, the first twenty years of TKE was in 1922, not in 1919. Gotcha. Nice try, but as with Clinton, no cigar. |
Your too clever for me. lol:)

Damn E C, is good to hear from you on site! I was going to call to see if alive and kicking! I should have known better!

If TRUE, I could beleive it!!!!! Also knowing you!;) |

active chapters
Quote:
As best as I can tell, the last installed chapter of TKE was at West Virginia State College on 10 May 2002. TKE has 267 active chapters and about 35 affiliates, colonies and interest groups, putting us just over 300 total. We are stlll the largest in number of chapters. We are not the largest in total initiates, total living initiates, average chapter size, numer of undergrads, alumni $ contributions (sucks). TKE is overwhelmingly the largest in numbers of dead chapters...so we have a lot to do. We will likely overtake the total initiates and total living initiates, and our number of inactive chapters will shrink. We are making inroads to ameliorate our problems, the biggest of which is to get our chapters to pay their bills. The present good leadership is helping greatly and the explosion of new alumni chapters is a boon to the Fraternity for Life. What are you doing to help/ |

obtain more space and to obtain a full-time administrator. The TKE Executive Sec'y, then, was Vernon J. Hampton, a part-time Dean at the U of IL. VJ was offered the full time job but did not want to move or relinquish his U of I position, so Richard R. Hall, a former field man, was given the nod. Alex Barket, a KC businessman, gave TKE a building at 5000 E. 59th Street in KC, not far from Starlight Theater. It was far bigger than the so- called "two car garage," and I began my career with TKE as a field man in that office in August 1957. The headquarters was moved to Indy about '64 as tax breaks were kind for fraternities and some political maneuvers were involved, too. Bruce B. Melchert succeeded Hall as Executive Secretary and made the move to Indianapolis from KC. The old HQ reverted to Barket. He never charged TKE a dime for rent, by the way. |
Once again the well hung TEKE  speaks again!:)
