Tulip86, these are GREAT! where did you find them?

While searching for articles for graduate thesis I end up in a lot of university online archives, I usually check to see if there are any pictures, some don't but most have loads of great ones.

I hope this house looked more "pleasant" IRL - it looks like the house that only pagans & Satanists join in bad greek movies!

hre
Granted, I'm no spring chicken, but we had to have all PNMs out by 2am, too. We had one PNM who we really, really wanted, and I had become close to her. One of her assets was that she was an excellent pianist. Every time I even think of rush, I think of many of my sisters pleading with me to please tell her that it's very close to 2am, and she could come back in the morning and play the piano! (and if you ever read my retro thread, you know that we had some pretty wacky rules!)

nittanygirl 07-10-2011 10:53 PM

LOL I thought the girl in the 70s pic was topless too! I was like whatttt?
These are awesome pictures. And I definitely agree that the ladies seem so glamorous in these pictures.

Here's what the chapter's website says about their house:

Quote:

Between 1904 and 1936 the women of Beta rented several homes to be the Delta Gamma house. In 1936 a new home was built for Beta and the women moved in over Easter weekend.
Here is that house, which is the current chapter house:

I can't help but wonder if they are all dressed the same for a recruitment party. ;)

This ADPi house is one that I would REALLY want to see! It has the older (oldest?) crest on the fireplace, and "the rock room". I think of Dick Van Dyke every time I think of it!

Plus, look at the little PNM or Sister sitting between alums. She looks scared out of her mind!

I know that Phi Mu has a few old yearbooks in our suite. If you're friends with any of the sisters, I'm sure someone would let you check a few out to see the pictures of the various GLOs on campus (to include Sigma Sigma Sigma). Just ask!

FSUZeta 08-04-2011 12:15 PM

i want to know where the tri deltas at WSU found that enormous dining room table. that thing is awesomely massive!

We have a few.
It's cool to look at, I just thought I'd share this particular picture since someone came across it online.

I love looking at the old PSU yearbooks. They're gigantic though!

A shocking accomplishement (with a nod to ebdelt). At the time of this accomplishment, fraternities had been on the TCU campus for 12 years. TWELVE! Eight chapters, twelve years, 2 semesters each year. None had ever had all members get higher than a 2.0? Yikes.

I love our house. So much history. It may not be the prettiest on campus, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Our charter has a dragon instead of a lion, the crazy rock room (rumor has it that the rock goes all the way to the Pi Phi house so it was cheaper to build around then to move it), and our beautiful Pi lights. Love.

I am laughing at this a LOT. My son was a Delt at TCU in the 90's!

Pi Lights? I have more to be jealous about?

Once I got to do when and if I ever get settled is to start scanning some of the many old yearbooks my mother had!

PeppyGPhiB 10-12-2011 01:54 PM

Oh my goodness, is that the same "Delta Airlines" skit some chapters (the one on my campus) were still doing in the 90s?

They sound completely awesome! When we had a house, we had one of those just over the front porch.

We did that skit, too! Same play on Delta Airlines, tray tables, etc. Truthfully, I was glad to see it go!

TPARose 10-14-2011 08:30 AM

I didn't see that any of the Pitt Panthers had posted this link yet, but it's fascinating stuff:

http://digital.library.pitt.edu/d/do...yearbooks.html

You can search all of the Pitt yearbooks from the last century. Most have a section on Greek Life. The older ones gave each greek organization their own spread.

KillarneyRose 10-24-2011 10:48 AM

TPARose, THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting that link!!! Seriously, I feel like it's Christmas morning or something! I'm trying to get work done and steal peeks at the 1987 Greek section at the same time! I'm having a great time seeing faces I haven't seen in over 20 years (and the hair and clothing choices look perfectly normal to me thankyouverymuch!)
