My daughter started to read this thread. And, like many of us she found it interesting. But she finally said something to the effect that this was either this person's only time in the spotlight and she was making the most of it and/or she is an unbelievable narcasist (sp?) and wants to keep everyone hooked when she easily could have typed an ending. Her emotions may be all over the place but finish it up/create the ending/ or whatever.

...this is ridiculous.
|
Agreed. I'm cutting the cord on this story. If she finishes, I'll read the ending, but I'm not waiting around hoping for it anymore. Oh well.

you're bound to your bid for a year, but if the sorority/president/someone important really loves the girl they can take her in and just not register her for a year.. Yes I'm sure that's frowned upon and occurs rarely, but it's possible.
|
oh, but I do agree that this story is getting a little ridiculous

As in, an underground pledge against the rules. |

Yeah, it's crazy.. We haven't done it, I'm just saying it isn't unheard of. |
I don't know if it's fake, it sounds like she's just enjoying building anticipation for the ending. :)
But if she happens to work in a "firm" with her sister Syd I can't say I would be totally surprised. :p |
The dinner
So we went to dinner at a campus restaurant. It was so awkward. We talked about recruitment. But since that was over, that conversation was like 10 min long. So i talked about this guy i was going on a date with later on in the week. She seemed stoked. Overall, the dinner was SO BAD!!!!! we just sat, made fake conversation and then i took her home. I convinced myself it was a fluke.
So later that week i went on a date with that guy. TURNS OUT that he was dating this girl who was a best friend of Jessie!!!! WHAT THE HECK?!?! Why didnt she tell me when i told him that I was going on a date with him? I was so mad. How could she be so fake and I was being so honest. lame. lame. lame. That weekend, I got a call from Marissa. The president of the house called me and asked about how I was doing. She said that Marissa was trying to give me time to myself to think about my decision and that they did not want to pressure me. She asked if I wanted to go to an event with everyone to just give it a try. She also told me that Marissa was not her first choise, but it ended up being the best decision of her life. She was so relateable. I decided to go to meeting |
impatient
Ok, since most of you want to know what happened, i will finish this thread today! blah, i hope this satisfies you GC beauties!

Meeting
I went to meeting and
got a big sis. It was so wierd since I didnt really know anyone. butttttt, it was the president!!!!! I was so happy about that! She was so gorgeous and I loved that she really opened up to me in that phone coversation with me! |
FAST FORWARD
So I depledged 4 weeks after I went to the meeting. That 2 weeks i missed after recruitment REALLY screwed me over.
All the new members already formed their cliques of friends and i kind of really didnt have anyone. TOTALLY not their fault, it was mine. and that is what kills me. I didnt go to bid day, I didnt go to the first 2 weeks of anything, etc. Turns out that the new member pledge class really united the house and DEFINITELY made them a strong house on camous. It just took that period to grow. TIPS: -If you do not get your first choice, go to your second and BE PROUD. The new member period is there for a reason. So rep your letters and hand out with your pledge class as much as you can. THEN make a decision of whether your happy AFTER your new member period. -VERY IMPORTANT: I had friends in every houe. and whether they were a Nate, a Serena, a Marissa, a Chuck, or whatever, they all had 4 GREAT years of memories with so many girls. I had tons of friends, but my experience would have been so much more enhanced if I just stuck with a house. It is a priveledge to be in ANY house. So eff you if you decide to give that up because you are turning your back on a GREAT gift. I regret my decisions throughout recruitment ALOT. Don't be me, that was the point of the story. In 8 years, your future child wont care if you were a Serena or Chuck or Marrissa. However, they WILL see the pictures in the photo albums you have and your letters amoung smiling girls. IMAGE IS TEMPORARY, MEMORIES AND SISTERS ARE PERMANENT. |
Whew...it took a while to get here, but it was a great story with an even greater message. Thanks for sharing.

Now that my story is over.....
I know that many of you are wondering a few things like :
1) Was your story totally one point of view? Cause according to you, Serena should have loved you, so maybe you are just this awkward human that needs consolation and Serena did not go as well as you thought. 2) Which chapters are which? 3) What school did you go to? These answers will be answered. I even actually found out what happened at Serena. All shall be revealed. |
