Andrea Yates not guilty by reason of insanity
 

A jury found Andrea Yates not guilty by reason of insanity in the drowning deaths of her young children in the bathtub of their suburban home.

Yates will be committed to a state mental hospital, with periodic hearings before a judge to determine whether she should be released. If convicted, she would have faced life in prison.

If it is Teddy that is crazy because he has been with that girl for years. He started dating her when he was still living in the St. Nicholas projects in New York. She should have just stayed a baby's mamma if it is him.

But then again I wouldn't be suprised because he is fickle anyway.

It wasn’t Fly The Friendly Skies for Mo’Nique last week. The popular Actress/Comedian was kicked off a United Airlines flight after getting into an argument with a flight attendant. Mo’Nique was on her way to New York to play guest host on The View. She was traveling with her stylist. Mo’Nique was sitting in first class, and her stylist was sitting in coach. When Mo’Nique’s stylist attempted to enter the first class section with a hair dryer for Mo’Nique, a flight attendant thought something was going on and started hollering 9/11. An argument started. I can only imagine what Mo’Nique said, but she was ordered off the plane and described as a disgruntled and belligerent passenger. What set Mo off? Was it when the flight attendant referred to her and the stylist as You People. After everything calmed down, the airline apologized, but Mo’Nique says it was too late. She says they treated her like an animal, and she will never fly United again. Mo’Nique was pretty calm when she did her guest hosting on The View, but don’t look for her to take over the seat left vacant by Star Jones Reynolds. Mo’Nique is too strong for these women. She had to keep Joy Behar in line. Joy had her claws out, but Mo’Nique kept shutting her down. Poor Barbara Walters, she needs a vacation. She doesn’t know what to say to Black Women, and again, Mo’Nique had to put them in their place. Last week, when Tanika Ray from Extra was on the show, Barbara kept putting her hands in her hair. The week before that, she was touching Brandy’s hair. WTF!!! You don’t touch a Black Woman’s hair. I don’t care if you’re curious just wanting to know if it’s real or a wig! Don’t touch a Black Woman’s hair!!! For the record, they did not touch Mo’Nique’s hair. I guess they knew better. Mo’Nique returns to The View on August 18th.

Tyra Banks says she’s pro union, but that did not stop a dozen staff members from walking off the job on her popular TV show, America’s Next Top Model. Writers and producers on the show want union representation for all the work they do. A labor strike could hurt the show if it lasts awhile. The new season of America’s Next Top Model kicks off in September on the new CW network.

Eddie, Slow Down! Friends and family members in Eddie Murphy’s inner circle are urging him to slow down and take it easy with his new love, Singer Mel B, formerly of the Spice Girls. The two have been dating for a few weeks, and they have his and her tattoos. A September wedding is also being discussed. Earlier this spring, Eddie divorced his wife Nicole of 12 years. The Divorced father of six (five kids with Nicole and one with a former girlfriend) likes being in a relationship. Image means everything to Murphy, and he wants a wife. Ever since the scandal with the transvestite prostitute a few years ago, he has worked hard to maintain a good family image. His marriage breakup to Nicole Murphy was a blow to his image. She says she was bored in the marriage. He paid her a lot of money to be quiet and go away. Is it love between Eddie and Mel B? Eddie has to go on the road in a few months to promote his new movie Dreamgirls with Beyonce and Jamie Foxx. Eddie is amazing in this movie, and he could get nominated for an Oscar. Eddie is gearing up for all of the publicity, and he wants a wife on his arm. Eddie wants the Down Low rumors to go away. For years it was rumored he was seeing Singer Johnny Gill. I talked to Johnny, and he says it was just a terrible rumor and that they are just friends. Eddie needs Mel and Mel needs Eddie because her music career is dead in the water. Melanie Murphy, the new M&M?

Janet Jackson will reveal all on Oprah September 26th. She’s appearing on the show the same day her album, 20 Years Old, arrives in stores. September is going to be a big month for Janet. In addition to the new album, word has it she may also be tying the knot with longtime love Jermaine Dupri. Janet has been talking about love and babies, and she may try motherhood via adoption. Janet’s new video with Nelly, Call On Me, is out. The video is a cute combination of live action and animation.

“Mr. Mean,” Simon Cowell of American Idol Fame, is producing a new reality show on Fox. Celebrity Duets debuts August 29th. The show is modeled after Dancing With The Stars with celebrities not known for singing teaming up with real singers. Those real Singers include Brian McKnight, Smokey Robinson, Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan, Dionne Warwick, Aaron Neville, Cyndi Lauper and Macy Gray.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell got busted for causing a disturbance outside of an old boyfriend’s home. Campbell was stalking her ex. She claims she just wanted to get some items she left over there, but she is known for her violent behavior. Over the past few years, she has been accused of attacking five former employees. Now, she’s moved on to attacking her lovers.

Oscar Winner Jamie Foxx and Carmen Electra! I know he’s on the cover of the latest issue of Essence giving up love to the sisters, but he is dating the soon to be divorced Carmen Electra. Electra is divorcing Rocker Dave Navarro. She used to be married to Dennis Rodman, and dated Prince. Is it love, or is this just the new Jamie Foxx romance of the week? Check out Jamie with Colin Ferrell in the big screen version of Miami Vice. It’s based on the hit 80’s TV show that starred Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas. The movie version is very different from the TV show. The famous theme music is gone. The Miami Vice theme won two Grammy’s for Musician Jan Hammer back in 1985, but the movie version has no trace of the song.

Where is Former American Idol Winner Ruben Studdard? Studdard has been away losing weight and working on a new album. He has lost close to 50 pounds so far. His new album, The Return, is coming out this fall. Studdard has been quiet about his weight loss. He is doing it naturally, through diet and exercise. He tried to do it publicly with the help of the TV show Extra, but that was a disaster because deep down in his heart, he didn’t want to do it. Now Studdard is a changed man, and he is determined to drop some pounds. Good luck Ruben!

The Life Story of Bruce Lee is coming to the big screen. It’s been 33 years since his untimely death at the age of 32. Lee died from swelling of the brain at the height of his career. He was known all over the world for his martial arts work and his movies. His family has given the go ahead for the project. Filming will start soon, and a book on his life is coming out in November.

Basketball Superstar Michael Jordan is breathing a sigh of relief. Not only is the kid not his, but a judge just saved him millions of dollars. Jordan’s ex-mistress, Karla Knafel, was trying to extort money from him. First, she claimed the baby she had was by him. They took a test and it wasn’t. Then, she demanded millions of dollars to keep quiet. Well, a judge has ruled in Jordan’s favor. He doesn’t have to give this woman a dime. Maybe now she will go away and get a life. Obviously, she didn’t get the sidechick memo: He Is Never Leaving His Wife!

A new live concert DVD from R Kelly is coming out in January. The concert was filmed in Oakland, and it will feature exclusive behind the scenes footage of R Kelly on tour.

Producer Teddy Riley is shooting down rumors that his two month-old marriage is in trouble. He claims all is well at home with his new wifey, despite rumors that there is trouble in paradise. Riley says he has heard the rumors, and he swears it’s not him.

How long is Bobby Brown going to continue with his charade? He and his wife Whitney Houston are separated. She is trying to get her life together, and she is staying away from Bobby. Bobby has been touring around the country and acting a fool. He lies about the state of his marriage all the time. One day, he’s fooling around with other women, the next day he’s declaring that everything is fine with his wife. Whitney is serious about turning over a new leaf, and she realizes that she can’t be around Bobby and his family. They have leeched off of her for years, and now, she is distancing herself from them. Will she ever return to Bobby? For her health and state of mind, probably not. Right now, the situation is too toxic and Whitney has to turn her life around.

Last week was not a good one for Beyonce. She is being sued along with her mom by a former business associate. Greg Walker says he was not paid for his work on the House of Dereon clothing line. He is seeking $1.5 million. A lot of Beyonce’s fans are up in arms over her recent video for Déjà Vu. A petition has been circling demanding that she re-shoot the video. Fans feel the production, the dancing, the costumes and love scenes with real life boyfriend Jay-Z was too much. I was surprised at the love scenes with Jay. They have always conducted themselves in a private manner, so to see the video where she is on her knees was startling. Will Beyonce listen to her fans? The new album B-Day comes out on early September, and her new movie Dreamgirls opens in theatres Christmas. Beyonce’s former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland has been making news. At press time, we were still waiting to hear confirmation about a possible pregnancy, and a growing friendship with former Boxer Mike Tyson. Let’s hope these are just rumors, or the girl has lost her mind!

Has all the gay talk hurt Oprah? Did she have to explain to the world her relationship with Gayle? Public relations experts feel Oprah should have kept her mouth shut. Just let the speculation fade away because if people were not thinking of them that way before, they are now. I know my mom kept asking me. She said well why is she protesting so much? I tried to explain to her that the latest issue of O magazine was devoted to friendships, but she kept saying, “Hmmmmmmmmm!!” As you can see, I get my “Hmmmmmmm’s” from her. Where’s Steadman in all of this? He is still by her side and in her life as her main man.

Pop Singer George Michael continues on the road to self destruction. Back in the 80’s, Michael was the hottest singer in the world, first with the music group Wham, then his solo career. There was always a lot of speculation about his private life, but the truth came out in 1998 when he was arrested for exposing himself to a male undercover police officer. Lately, he’s been making headlines for his rampant drug use. He’s been known to get so high, he would be passed out in his car on the streets of London surrounded by drugs and sex paraphernalia. Michael made headlines last week when he was caught having sex with a 58-year old unemployed truck driver in the back of a van. The truck driver says he had no idea the guy trolling for sex was George Michael.

Another Pop Star is about to come out of the closet. Word has it the male singer was part of a popular boy band back in the 90’s. He’s been quiet about his sexuality, but now that the group has disbanded he’s ready to tell all. Good luck Lance!

I had a chance to catch up with Singer Lionel Richie last week. He has a new album coming out in September called Coming Home. The first single is the smash, I Call It Love. Richie says he’s excited about the new project, and he’s back to his R&B roots. Richie worked with Jermaine Dupri, Raphael Saadiq and Dallas Austin on this project. I asked him about his daughter Nicole, and he says he’s happy for her success and that he makes her eat. He says she realized she is too thin, and she is working on it. He says stress and her busy lifestyle contributed to her weight loss.

Diahann Carroll is coming to Grey’s Anatomy. The Legendary Actress will be featured on the hit ABC show, which will debut on a new night, Thursdays in September.

After 24 years, Actor Jerry Douglass is being dropped from the daytime soap opera, The Young & The Restless. Douglass played “John Abbott,” the Abbott family patriarch. According to the storyline, his character will die in prison.

Here’s a hint: he doesn’t date black women, but when he did, he beat the crap out of an Actress who went on to win an Oscar.

I didn't see anything "startling" about her and Jay-Z's scenes in the video. They were hot and sexy. They are in love. Also, people need to realize that Beyonce is a GROWN WOMAN. She (more likely than not) does grown woman things. People need to get over themselves. However, I agree that she might need to redo the ending with all that wild and erratic dancing, complete with the scenes of her running around wide-eyed like some sort of escaped slave. That's what's startling....

Ready To Take Over For Star? Might B.

The line to take over for Star Jones at "The View" is getting longer, with restauranteur and lifestyle guru B. Smith the latest to stake her claim to the seat.

Page Six says that Smith "will" be pushing for the job, which isn't slated to be filled until at least after Labor Day, because "The View" airs opposite Martha Stewart's morning show in many markets – and Smith doesn't like Stewart very much. Apparently, the original domestic goddess was spotted by Smith snooping around her booth at a television industry trade show several years back, and every since then, Smith has had it in for Martha.
