Total sizeism!!

Hahaha, what store? A lot of stores in Lynchburg only get a few things in smaller sizes. I should create a petition. While I'm at it, I should create one for those of us with 37 inch inseams. We don't even have our own section in stores for talls. Plus we can't get length ADDED to our clothes. It's a travesty!

There was a "What Not to Wear" episode this weekend that had a super tiny woman on. It was the "Worst Teacher in America" epsiode.

She wasn't a dwarf, but was probably really close to it. Amazingly they found clothes that fit her perfectly with only a few alterations - even, gasp, jackets!!!!

I thought of this thread when I saw her! :D

And this dumb shithead just goes "I'd probably gain weight, so I could fit into non-petite sizes". YOU ASSHEAD. Maybe TauAlumna was right and people need to be educated about petite sizes, because it's about height, not weight.

No, I think it's just from not eating. If these petite women (skinny mini's, as my roommate liked to say) would just eat something, then they'd be able to think clearly. :p

This column appeared in the Chicago Tribune today. Of course I thought of this thread when I read it. :D

People are jacked. You can call "petite" "Reese Witherspoon" or you can call a monkey "President" but that doesn't change what it is, so get the hell over it.

I don't think a Vertically Challenged section would do nearly as well.

I also didn't see her give any alternatives as to what the section should be called. If she is that bothered by a single word, that isn't derogatory or offensive, then really, she's got problems. And what a great argument without giving suggestions? How about Midgets R Us? Shorties? The munchkin section? Really, WTF is wrong with the word petite?

tunatartare 06-22-2006 12:06 PM

Oompa Loompa Fashions?
Liliput Universe?
Dwarf Department?

all possible

GeekyPenguin 06-22-2006 12:13 PM

Whiny Midgets Who Can't Find a Man?

tunatartare 06-22-2006 12:16 PM

also acceptable

Who is old enough to remember when the girls' section in Sears had a "Chubby" department which was then changed to "Pretty-Plus"?

I'm sorry, but those are both a heck of a lot more offensive than petite.

You can't help being petite and beautiful. :(

Wait? When did beauty come into this? There's some really ugly short people out there!

Since the complaint is also that the petite clothing section has matronly clothes, I think that "Shorties under 40" would be an appropriate name.
