My best friend called me from Convention last night and held up the phone so I could hear them singing, "Alpha Delta Pi is a sisterhood, you can trust in it always...." Isn't that sweet? I've been singing it all day!

Zeta Nu - Clemson University Eta Xi - Presbyterian College Delta - University of Texas Eta Epsilon - Miami University (the one in Ohio) Delta Phi - University of Missouri, Kansas City (first time winner!) I didn't take down the list of Excellence, Achievement, or Diamond Four-Point Chapters - sorry! - but I do remember Alpha Iota got Diamond Four-Point for sure and either Achievement or Excellence - cause I remember being excited for Honeychile! There were several chapters who moved on up the ladder. It was a wonderful evening with lots of excitement. Our chapters are accomplishing great things out there, and so many of them have taken great strides to receive this recognition. Our new Grand Council is a great group of women who will do a great job in leading us for the next two years: International President - Claire Brown Gwaltney International VP of Collegiate Membership - Anne Charnock International VP of Collegiate Membership - Susan Swicord Matthews International VP of Alumnae Membership - Lorraine Alderman Testa International VP of Finance - Tammie Pinkston International VP of Organizational Relations - Rosalyn Doze Williams International Secretary - Sydnee Jack Executive Director - Linda Welch Ablard (appointed rather than elected, so I believe she will be continuing) And our new NPC Delegate will be former IP - Kathryn Peddy Goddard |
Convention was amazing! I had such a good time meeting new sisters and reconnecting with old ones. I am so PROUD to be an ADPi! There are great things in our future! I am also thrilled that the chapter that I advise, Delta Phi, University of Missouri - Kansas City, won their first Golden Lion! There was so much excitement, tears of joy and pride that evening. Our province also had another Golden Lion winner - Alpha Eta, Kansas State.
I had the chance to meet ASUADPi, Polarpi, ADPiConniebama, adpideltaup and firstandfinest. What a wonderful group of ladies! Some other fun Convention tidbits: Convention 2009 will be held in ORLANDO!!!! We celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Adelphian Virginia Stafford, Alpha Beta and past Grand President, has attended 26 conventions, making her the winner of the most conventions attended! We had so much fun with the Convention Song! We had an alumna in attendance from Delta, Texas, who was initiated in 1934! Grand Council introduced the 200,000th ADPi initiate! She is the daughter of our District 5 Team Director. We had the opportunity to participate in the TAKE program, which is a self-defense course in honor of Ali Kemp. You can read about the program here: http://takedefense.org/. The 2007-20008 Leadership Consultants were announced: Jenell Bukky - Eta Kappa, Cal State - San Bernadino Lindsay Hoogher - Gamma Mu, Missouri State Jessica Lamb - Eta Zeta, Southern Miss Victoria Moger - Gamma Mu, Missouri State Callison Rawl - Zeta Nu, Clemson Jodi Schwaben - Beta Tau, University of Akron Kimberly Woiwood - Alpha Theta, University of Washington You can view convention photos at: http://adpiconvention2007.snapfish.com/snapfish. All albums will be loaded by July 8, and will be available for 90 days. ***PM me for the Password if you need it!** |
We're so glad that those of you that attending had a good time and enjoyed yourselves.
Torrey and I are also glad we survived the week in one piece:) Look forward to being just another attendee in Orlando!!! Emily |
Thanks to the Boston Alumnae for all of their time, dedication and hard work!
|
My body is still in protest of the lack of sleep and withdrawal from coffee for this week, but I'm already planning on going to Orlando in two years! :)
Random notes: Honey - the chapter president where I advise roomed with AI's president - she's a VERY sweet woman! (I think I remember AI getting Excellence this year :)) My alumnae association was awarded Diamond 4-point AND Achievement!!! (SO incredibly excited) Will write more later, but it was fun to *randomly* meet ADPiConniebama when we *happened* to sit next to each other during the business meeting on Thursday ;) |
I had such a great time, but I just got home today (yeah major delay out of Boston yesterday so I missed my connection, didn't get to leave until this morning).
Convention=good, hotel=bad I'm very conflicted right now, on Wednesay when we checked in, there was an incredibly rude worker from the hotel, yeah guess what, she was initiated on Saturday. I'm like Ahhh. I told my mom what went down and she was like "just because she is your sister doesn't mean you should ignore the fact that she was rude and lacked customer service skills", which is so very true. A part of me just feels bad, but my mom is right. |
I really did like the food. The pork tenderloin and asparagus was fantastic. And the filet mignon could be cut with a butter knife. I believe I would have enjoyed an outdoor pool - not that I had time to lay out though! I hate that I never could meet up with you guys. I had a purple ribbon on the top of my nametag. :D But it's time consuming to keep up with 20 people and meet with all the others that I needed to meet with.
Looking forward to Orlando! The hotel is adjacent to Sea World, so that should be nice. I used to live in that area - across the street from Universal Studios. Great mall in Orlando - ha! Plus I have direct flights to there from my home airport.... VLS next summer is in Atlanta at the hotel right on airport grounds. Can't remember if it is a Marriott, Sheraton, Hyatt, or what. But it looked lovely. Hate to hear about your delays, Brianna. I wondered about that - especially with the folks going to or through Texas. |
has anyone tried looking at the convention photos? the only group i can pull up is VLS 06.

One of my former pledge sisters is on the Grand Council! She's been an extremely active alum for years, and lives in the town of my collegiate chapter. Hmm...I bet it'll be kinda weird for the chapter now, knowing that one of the Grand Poobahs could walk into one of their meetings at any time!:D By the way, azureblue, I'd love the password to look at the pictures! Thanks! |
