QT who I despise run and ruin the gas prices.

5 days ago, they were at 2.90. They then run the gas down about a penny every 3-4 days and Then, Whoa, up 12-14 Cents a Gal.

Wow, the Our Federal Govt. is going to Investigate and see if We The Consumer is getting Priced Gouged!:rolleyes:

LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Some California drivers are resorting to desperate measures to beat the surge in gas prices at the pump -- deliberately running dry on the state's freeways and simply waiting for rescue.

Lujan's 20 trucks roam the busy freeways of Orange and Los Angeles counties as part of a publicly funded patrol that gives a free gallon of gas to drivers who have run out of fuel. It also offers other basic assistance to drivers whose vehicles have broken down.

Yeah, my family's royalties have actually been pretty substantial lately. We used to be in O&G, had an oil company, several good wells. Sold 'em all off when Carter effed up the industry for the little guys. Now, we're only getting pennies on the dollar for what those wells should be paying us.

I work in O&G and my company is very happy these days... you'd think they'd show their happiness in my paycheck...

If it is any consolation, Houston is the energy "hub" and our gas prices here range from $2.95-$3+

Man, I thought Houston would be alot more expensive. It always seemed as if Houston was just about 10 cents behind Cali.

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- An Upstate gas station has sued, saying that a competitor's lower per gallon prices at the pump have caused them to lose profits.

Pantry Inc. owns a gas station in Gaffney. It sued in Cherokee County, alleging that Petro Express had kept prices at two of its Gaffney stations below cost.

Pantry's suit said its competitor violated South Carolina's Unfair Trade Practices Act. Under the law, motor fuel companies cannot sell below cost with intent or effect of impairing competition.

Pantry said it has lost $165,000 and is seeking three times the amount it lost.

Actually funny you should mention that but in the past month I've had 2 instances of people approaching me at the gas station claiming they are broke and out of gas and asking for donations. Thats never happened to me before! Desperate times, desperate measures...

I filled up at $3.01 for unleaded Monday...:mad:

If you can't afford gas....don't drive.

Sudden drop from $2.89 to $2.79 at the station near me.. and on Thursday, the day it usually goes up up up. Hmmmm.

If you can't afford to drive to work...then you have some problems and probably don't have the money to own a car.

Ride a bike or something. Hell, this could be the best thing to happen to the US. It may get all the lard asses riding bikes to work.

I know people who commute 50 miles each way to work everyday. I don't think they'd ever make it on a bike! I'm lucky that my commute is only 25 miles each way and that I get 30 mpg.

And, it's not as though the only thing going up is gas prices. I just got my flood insurance bill for next year and that went up $200 (thanks Katrina). The adjustable rate mortgage bad news will come in mid-May.. probably $120 increase a month, from what I can estimate. I used to spend about $30 a pay period on gas and now I'm spending $80, so that's $100 a month more. Went to the grocery store today and EVERYTHING was 10-20 cents higher (they say because of increased shipping costs due to gas prices). You buy 50 items at an average of a 15 cent increase per item and you're talking about $7.50 a week or $30 a month. Any one of those alone is no big deal. All of them together is around $260 a month. It starts to hurt. The luxuries go out the window. Oh, and the heating gas bill.. DOUBLE what it was last year. My bill for Jan. was over $300 and it would usually be $150. So now you're up to $400 extra per month. I don't know many people who can swallow an extra $400 a month in bills easily. Just keep tightening the belt...

At that time it will come down to luxuries vs necessities. I know a lot of people that have bad spending habits and would rather spend their money on going out, new electronics, clothes, etc before they even think about bills.

Comes down to living within your means....which most people HATE doing.

the gas station i usually go to has been at $2.99 for the past week. what gives? usually it goes up 2-3 cents per day. i am not complaining though.

starting next week i will be taking public transportation to work. the bus stop is right outside my apartment door and the building i am at is a 2-3 minute walk from the rail station.
