NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Although Big has made huge mistakes & been an ass, I have to believe the people can change! They both have changed & maybe now they can get it right! Carrie is not happy with the russian, not enjoying Paris & thoughts are drifting back to Big. That's got to count for something!! |

The Girls were on Oprah yesterday. It was kind of sad. :(
|
I wish and hope and pray that they make a Sex and the City Movie to wrap all of these issues up or do something so that I can feel complete with the girls. ;)
I don't know what I'm going to do with myself on Sunday nights:( |

Look at what I found for you SATC junkies. :p
"Sex" and the Movies? Wed Feb 18, 1:20 PM ET Add Movies - E! Online to My Yahoo! By Josh Grossberg Don't drain those Cosmos just yet, Sex and the City fans. The affair ain't over. On the eve of this Sunday's series' finale, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall, and Kristin Davis (news) are in talks with HBO to reprise their roles for a big-screen fling that will continue the adventures of Carrie Bradshaw & Co., Daily Variety reports. So much for saying goodbye. According to the trade, Michael Patrick King, the style-making show's Emmy-winning executive producer, main scribe and director is currently hard at work writing the script. It's expected that HBO will set a start date for production once a deal is reached with the quartet and King finishes the screenplay, due in May. No word on the movie's storyline, or whether it will feature Mr. Big (Chris Noth (news)), or the other men in the gals' lives--Smith Jared (Jason Lewis), Steve Brady (David Eigenberg (news)) or Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler (news)). An HBO rep did not return phone calls seeking comment. When last we left Sex, the first of the two-part finale that aired last Sunday, Carrie jetted off to Paris to live a fairytale existence with Alexsandr Petrovsky (Mikhail Baryshnikov (news)). But the Big question remained: Will she stay with the Russian artist or will she go back to Big, who seems to have finally grown up after six seasons? Or will Carrie end up back in New York with the girls, finally comfortable in singledom? According to published reports, three different endings have been filmed for this weekend's swan-song episode. Of course, Hollywood's had a thing for movies based on hit TV shows, but this would be the first time in recent memory that a hit show has segued to celluloid immediately after its small-screen run. The X-Files movie bridged two seasons of the Fox series, and there has been talk of another feature film foray for the sci-fi franchise, but nothing's been finalized. Last week, 20th Century Fox confirmed it was working on a theatrical version of The Simpsons, which is now in its 13th season and still going strong. Usually TV-based films play up on the nostalgia factor and come long after the series has been sent to rerun land--notable examples include Charlie's Angels, The Brady Brunch, The Fugitive, Star Trek and Warner Bros.' upcoming Starsky & Hutch. In its six-year history, Sex and the City has won five Emmys, eight Golden Globes and two Screen Actors Guild (news - web sites) Awards. If all goes well, Sex-aholics will probably get their feature film fix most likely by 2005. Until then, fans can content themselves with seasons one through five on DVD and slightly tamer syndicated versions of the show airing on TBS beginning in June and on Tribune Broadcasting, which owns 26 U.S. TV stations, and cable superstation WGN starting in September 2005. |
SATC lessons
Good Detroit Free Press article on the lessons of SATC.
Home | Back -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5 things we learned from 'Sex and the City' BY JULIE HINDS FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER February 18, 2004 Carrie, Carrie, will you ever marry? Will you stay in Paris with your Russian hottie, Petrovsky, or return to New York with Mr. Big? Or are you destined to strap on your Manolo Blahniks and totter off into the sunset with Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte, the friends who may be the true loves of your life? The suspense ends Sunday night, when HBO airs the final episode of "Sex and the City." Since its debut in 1998, the groundbreaking series has had a powerful effect on popular culture, turning cast members Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis into a style-setting quartet to rival the Beatles. What their characters have taught us about life, love and the joys of fashion took years to play out. But there are five essential lessons every "Sex and the City" fan knows. Four hundred bucks isn't too much to spend on shoes. Expensive designer clothes weren't merely an indulgence for Carrie and her pals. They were gorgeous armor to gird them for battle as outspoken, uninhibited single women. Female viewers understood and copied their look. Those who could afford to bought high-end high heels by Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo and assorted labels from the show. Those who couldn't relied on knockoffs. "I loved, loved how they'd put pieces together that you wouldn't necessarily think worked together, but they did. It took your thinking out of the box," says Lauren Bean of Franklin. "People want to look like Carrie, and they want to mix it up," says Cheryl Daskas, co-owner of Tender in Birmingham, where the "Sex" trends fly off the shelves. "It's a feel-good thing." Women's conversations are sometimes rated NC-17. Sure, Carrie and crew had plenty of romantic exploits over the seasons. What was revolutionary was their habit of discussing them -- without blushes or apologies -- during racy gab sessions. "Women do actually talk that way, you know that. It had a sense of realness to it," says Peggy Watkins, owner of P.W. Collections, a home-based fashion business in Southfield. Yet such frankness from females was something new for entertainment, according to Dara Goldman, who teaches a graduate-level course, Urban Desires: Sex and the City in Caribbean Cultures, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. "This is a paradigm we've conventionally seen with male characters in buddy pictures, where they're often discussing their sexual exploits and desires. This isn't something we're used to seeing from women on TV." A froufrou cocktail can be a celebration of life. A shot of vodka, a splash of cranberry juice and a few other ingredients became a national craze when "Sex" popularized Cosmopolitans. "I'd heard of them before, but within a year of them being on the show, everyone started ordering them" says Mark Liles, a bartender at Bartini's Blue Moon Lounge in Clinton Township. "There was kind of a link that it was sophisticated." Still, it wasn't really about the alcohol. It was about reviving an old-school Hollywood sense of style, about dressing up to run to the mall instead of throwing on a pair of sweats, about using the good china for a meal eaten alone. And it spoke to anyone who ever put microwave popcorn in a crystal bowl and diet cola in a martini glass to watch a new "Sex" episode. Manhattan is the center of the universe. Most fans don't believe Carrie will wind up living in Paris because it's impossible to imagine her anywhere but New York City. It's the only location as brash, experimental, self-assured, messed up and triumphant as the characters on "Sex" themselves. "I love the lifestyle these women have in the most fabulous city in the world," says Marguerite Parise, executive producer of Bond Films North, a Southfield-based television commercial production company. "They just grab life by the tail and enjoy the scene. And New York is the best scene in the world. The show is a tribute to the city." Since 9/11, all of America has come to celebrate the Big Apple for its unique strengths. "Sex" always did. Boyfriends come and go, but girlfriends are forever. Carrie fell for Mr. Big and a string of men who've so far failed to ignite her "bride gene." Charlotte wed a Prince Charming, then divorced him and converted to Judaism to try matrimony a second time. Miranda became a single mom. Samantha never met a fling she didn't like. Through it all, the one constant in the foursome's frantically complicated love lives was their loyalty to one another. "I thought that was one of the healthiest parts of the show, that your friendships can be a source of help and humor, and a sounding board for how healthy your choices are. They know they can bring up anything and get listened to," says Joe Bavonese, director of the Relationship Institute in Royal Oak. "The bond between them, how different they all are, women get that," says Josie Knapp, co-owner of Assaggi, a bistro in Ferndale. Although Knapp is rooting for Carrie to wind up with her toxic lover or ultimate soul mate, Mr. Big, there's another ending she wouldn't mind. "If she stayed single at her job, with all her girlfriends, that would be perfect," she says. "It would be a happy ending, too." |
I loved last night's episode. I thought it was the perfect ending to a series like that. Charlotte's new daughter was soooooo cute. Miranda must really love Steve because she cannot stand his mother and she let her move in with them. And, Samantha, I'm so happy that she finally settled down. She looked like Sharon Stone with her cut and color.
I'm glad that Carrie and JOHN finally made it work with each other. This finale tied up all the loose ends without being corny or cheesy. I must admit that I will definitely miss this show. I might have to break down and actually buy those expensive DVDs. |
it was perfect!!!! i cried when harry brought charlotte the papers for their baby. i was soooo giddy when carrie came to the restraunt and met up with the girls. i even got happy when she found her carrie chain!! and when the phone rang and it said "john" i screamed "finally!!!!!!!!!!!!"
i'm with you classy lady except i want someone to BUY me all the seasons of satc!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

It was a good ending. I was cthu when the little girl bopped Carrie in the head. The only problem I had was did they really have to show Samantha naked having sex with Smith? It seemed so phony the way she was bouncing up and down. I think it would have been better just showing them snuggling and "basking in the afterglow" and then pan to the plant Smith bought her. I read everyone has signed on to the movie except SJP. I'm sure she will. I loved that blue coat she had on and also the polka dot dress. Did you know SJP's contract stipulates she could have all clothing and accessories (not including those that had to go back to fashion houses)? Where will she find the room?

The ending was perfect! I almost cried and I don't cry very easily. When Carrie was trying to hail the cab and Big passed her I was hollering "wait a minute, turn around, stop, look!!" LOL. I have to buy the DVD's too, maybe not every season but at least the last season.

I tried not to cry
And succeeded for the most part (it was a horrible, cold, rainy day in San Diego and something else was irking me :( ). This was a cool episode.
But I was wrong about Big's first name. On a spoiler site, they said that Big's first name was "Fred." Naah, Big doesn't look like a Fred.:p Glad that Carrie saw that her home, and heart was in New York and she needed to be back with Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda -- her friends-as-family. :D Miranda's hard rock really has softened. I know she can't really stand Mary, Steve's mom-in-law, but she bent for her husband. Charlotte and her bebe de chinoise...does anyone remember when Trey's Gawd-awful mamma, Bunny, made some comment about a "mandarin child" and how she didn't want one? Well, touche, Bun. Ol' not-so-hairy Harry is more than willing. And you know that I originally disliked Smithe and Sammy Sam Sam as a couple because of the pronounced age difference, but their pairing grew on me. I enjoyed Samantha during this season. Ah well. I will try to watch the edited reruns, but it just won't be the same. *le sigh* |
gosh....
i'm so sad. i enjoyed the episode so much. it is much more than i thought it would be. i was getting scared b/c i heard that the writers wrote multiple endings, and i DID NOT want carrie to end up with the russian (what a butt hole!!!) gosh, i cried when miranda was there for her mother in law...when big said it took him a long time to get there...when charlotte knew it was their baby..even when sam admited that she was so glad smith was in her life. i was hysterically laughing at big when he said, "I'm gonna kick some russian ass" it was hilarious. i agree steeltrap, i thought his name was gonna be fred too. but john is cool! au revoir sex and the city. i'll miss ya lots :( |
They had Chris Noth (Big) on Regis and Kelly and he said the alternate ending was Carrie telling him it's too late and walks away after he professes his love for her. I later saw on another show that was done because they was trying their best to let no leaks out whatsoever.
