I don't mean to rain on your parade, so to speak ;), but I don't think this is correct. UA doesn't have a lot of the teams where other schools pick up many of their All-Americans (you know it's not ALL football and baseball ;).

For example, UA doesn't have these teams: men's lacrosse, field hockey, women's lacrosse, men's soccer, fencing, cross-country, rowing, and wrestling. My alma mater DOES have these teams and this is where we pick up a lot of our All-Americans (mainly b/c schools like your's take all of the football/baseball ones!).

But also, let's look at SEC schools comparatively, and not just about football and baseball as I mentioned earlier.

According to the NCAA, the Div. I schools with the most NCAA championships (both men & women's sports combined) are:

1. UCLA, 90
2. Stanford, 87
3. Southern California, 82
4. Oklahoma State, 44
5. Arkansas, 39
6. LSU, 38
7. Texas, 36
8. Michigan, 31
9. North Carolina, 30
10. Penn State, 29

3) Mix Fruity drinks.
4) Repeat steps for Kentucky Derby Festival watershow.

Wow, there are som similarities to how sailing is done out West as well.

1) same (but apply SPF 50 sunscreen because getting burned in the fog is normal)
2) If you're not a long time resident you have to dock at a slip on the *other* side of the bay (we know some people that have been on the list at the San Francisco Yacht Club for over 20 years :eek: ), so there is driving, bridge toll, and parking involved.
3) Nothng fruity because it is going to get cold and foggy, whiskey and gin is always a good idea
4) Repeat Steps for all Tall Ships festivals, regattas, and Fleet Week. Best view of the Blue Angels air show and the ships entering the Golden Gate, is on the water. Also many people drop anchor during Giants ball games outside China Basin.

As for football, Cal played outside, which could go either way weather wise, no heels or skirts. Currently my school plays indoors which is lovely in inclement weather, and most people walk to the game as their vehicle were parked the night before when they were sober for tailgating, which is now a crime :rolleyes:

Whatever-the bad weather is all part of the excitement of the game. :D

Blue Violets: If you'll re-read my post (and the quote from me that you inserted into your post), you'll notice that I wrote ACADEMIC All-Americans. That particular honor is not sports related. We still have 12 National Championships in football, though... and everyone in the SEC knows that football is the sport that really matters! :D

I am so bored with the SEC gushing. If a group of Ivy League students and alumni were to do the same thing, it would be bombarded with people saying that it doesn't matter how academically prestigious a group of schools are, and that the Ivy students were just pretentious snobs.

Growing up in the South was okay, but it wasn't the end-all and be-all of my life. Especially since I got the hell out when I turned 18. I'm over it.

I think perhaps because our home games are indoors, and all away games are outdoors, is one of the many reasons we are not champions (not including bad coaching, and players that are well, less than stellar in the brain deaprtment, I swear some of them run the wrong way on the field). But hey, at least our Ag department produces their own award winning brand of meats for the illegal tailgating. The halftime show is always precious as well.

Of course you are kidding...bad weather is anything below 75 degress. ;)

Have you read A Southern Belle Primer? "Precious" is nearly a kiss-of-death! :D HAHAHAHA. That is a GREAT book. Definitely required reading!
