Let me begin by saying, even though I not against most interracial dating, I am against a black man dating a white woman.

Why do I make two different statements that don't match? Because, to me a white woman dating a black man reinforces all of the negative stereotypes of why black men don't date black woman(fat, lazy, loud, ignorant, ghetto glued in weave with bright orange nails.) Basically, that black woman are not wanted, not even by their own race. Ok, I just put myself out in the spotlight to get hammered from all sides.

Now, let me make things more complicated. My uncle will be bringing over his fiance' for Christmas and yes she is white. Unfortunetly, my uncle was one of those men that went to college loving a black woman and leaning on a black woman for support but now, is making lots of money and you know the rest. He claims that he loves this woman and he is worried about how our family is going to act.

Let's just say, I know I am going to be the mediator but I don't want to be. I wish I could talk to my family before they show up. I know this is weird, but please help me keep my family from stepping out of line and hurting their feelings.

This is actually bothering me. Regardless of my personal feelings, I don't want my family to act ignorant. Was anyone in a similiar situation? What did you do? Even if not, what do you suggest?

i'am black man and i don't date black woman,it's not that i don't like black woman is just that im just in to white woman,i would love to have kids one day and if i had a child by a white woman my child will come out with soft hair and not nappy hair.

So, is hair one of your motivators?  If not why did you mention it? I think we all know some people of mixed races. Also, there are some people of mixed races and one gene is more dominant, so watch what you say about the hair.

Is your hair nappy? Do you somehow feel inferior because of that? What about your mom or sisters? Do any of them have nappy hair? Would you consider them unattractive because of that?

It's ok to sincerely be attracted to a certain type of person. I'm just concerned about your self-hate statement as a reason for this attraction. I hope that you learn to accept the fact that your hair and that of your future children may be nappy, but you can still be beautiful.

im one if those brothas that would leave he's black girl for a white girl and have her baby.i don't want no big lip nappy head kids.i like to date outside my race, yes i have nappy hair and i wouldn't wish this on my child because what i had to go throgh with my hair is karzy.i feel like me being with a white woman my child would have it easier when it comes on to hair u know what im sayin? it's hard to take care of negro hair and if you are black like me than u would understand where im comin from.

p.s. what black man wouldn't leave their black girl for a white girl and knock her up huh?

I'mJustMe 03-14-2007 07:34 PM

Yes I am black like you, but no I don't understand where you're coming from. Although I have never done so, I don't see a problem with dating outside your race. Everybody has their preference. However, for someone to make a statement about have a big lip baby is just ridiculous. A lot of white women are going to extremes trying to get the big lips you so hate. For you to make the comments about lips and hair, you must not have an understanding of genetics. I would suggest you do a little research about the subject before making such comments. It doesn't matter what your child looks like, chances are they will be teased at some point. Even if they have straight and silky hair, they will be too fat or too skinny, too dark or too light, too tall or too short, too proper or too country etc. There will always be something. That's when you, as a parent, step in and let them know that they are beautiful just the way they are. Interracial kids go through just as much as other kids if not more. Marinate on that!

Yes, I know folks may feel this way, but something about this post seems fake to me. You know how sometimes you ladies mentions "Trolls" or folks that come on here just to throw lobs of hate . . I can help but feel that this person is just attempting enter here and say inflamatory statements just to get a rise out of a forum of black women . . . . I'm just not buying it

Excuse me if this is a real post from the heart. if this is the case, these issues go way past hair. If it were just about hair then a perm, straightener, texturizer,or even a hot comb would be clear solutions. You just told on your self by mentionng big black lips as another issue you have

Well....I am not trying to offend your family, but do all of the people in your family have big lips and nappy hair?
If I had big lips then great, but I don't and I am fine with that. So does that put me in a different black girl category?? Did your hair put you through that much trauma for it to be 'karzy' (as you said)?

I know plenty of black men who would not leave their woman just to make a baby....if you want to speak with one you can ask my dad, grandfather, uncle or my boyfriend.

Oh well if you respond or not...doesn't matter ....carry on everyone else!

I was thinking that myself, something just didnt sound right. If it is real, then obviously this person has some issues of self-hate that needs to be dealt with accordingly. When people say things like this I always wonder how they feel about their mother and/ or sisters/

troy86,

I just read what you wrote and I truly have to believe that you are not a black man. You must be someone pretending to be a black man just to get a rise out of those who would respond to your post. And truly, a black man who knows himself, would love the package that comes with being a black man...to include the various hair textures that we black folks are born with, as well as everything else that comes along with us being...us.
I'm not trippin' on who you date or fall in love with, but rather, I'm trippin' on you denouncing our genetic parts, and a black man, just wouldn't do that.
