Even with the reasons of overall school/sorority numbers decreasing, it is a bit strange.

During the 2014-15 school year, under Virginia Commonwealth University here on her popular GreekChat thread, irishpipes listed a KD 2014 colony, a Phi Sigma Sigma 2015 recolonization, a 15-16 GPhiB colony, and an ADPI TBA colony.

By the 2016-17 year irishpipes listed those four VCU colonies as TBA COLONIES.

Only Gamma Phi Beta eventually installed (in 2019).

Not sure which of the three non-installing groups actually tried a colony and failed, or if the three non-installs simply dropped their plans to do so.

And at some point since 2014, the Alpha Epsilon Phi chapter closed. So VCU still has the same number of chapters now as it did ten years ago.

Sigma Psi, a local sorority at CWRU with 127 years of history, announced in an IG post that they will be closing at the end of the current semester. Sending lots of love to their sisters and alum.

Pi Kappa Phi has been closed at the University of Arizona. Closure is due to RMF.

Cheerio, re: VCU

Around that same time KD had the opportunity to establish a chapter at the University of Richmond and jumped on the opportunity. GPhi colonized in 2019 with a very strong New Member Class. Then COVID hit and and shortly thereafter, Adam Oakes, a Delta Chi pledge died of alcohol poisoning. Greek Life Recruitment was suspended through at least one Formal Recruitment period, and, when it restarted it was still virtual. Gamma Phi was never really able to establish itself; the timing was awful. Both Gamma Phi and Alpha Xi Delta closed.

VCU is primarily a commuter school that became very big, very fast and has never had a real Greek Life Office with trained Greek Life Professionals. I can't realistically see another NPC group wanting to colonize there; there just isn't that much interest in Greek Life there.

This makes me sad. You don't have people breathing down your neck to rush or whatever, just keep going and let it be what it is,

This makes me sad. It's the oldest sorority on campus. I know someone in that chapter who will be graduating soon and she had so many wonderful experiences in their chapter.
